Is there something that IG won't copy from other sites?

That was exactly my thinking. I was briefly excited to see a Tropico bundle, until I saw the price and the lack of DLC. Tropico 4 Collector's Bundle (with all the DLC) has been on sale for $10 several times recently. If you used a coupon code, it was only $8 from GMG. I'd much rather have all of Tropico 4 than 1, 2, and the base parts of 3 & 4.

Wow, 2 Dollars up in 3 hours.
Anyway, can anyone confirm if these include the DLCs? Like Tropico 3: Absolute Power or any of the 7 Tropico 4 DLC.

Only interesting is Tropico 4...but i guess i wait till some better deals, like Steam Summer Sale and also that it includes the DLCs.

Did Tropico 1 age well? I think about buying only the first part to give it a try and see how I like it (and eventually buy Tropico 4 later), but if the game looks like crap (not expecting anything spectacular from a 10 years old game, but it should at least look ok even nowadays) and the newer titles have much better gameplay then it would be a waste of time.

Wish I could answer that, but I haven't played the original in a few years. The gameplay hasn't changed much, but the latter games definitely introduced noteworthy improvements.
Still, I'd say you'll get at least $1 worth of enjoyment out of the first 2 games. Go for it.

Graphically speaking the later versions will always be an improvement on the first two. I remember buying the original Tropico around it's release (paid almost £30.00 for it back then and certainly got more than my monies worth over the years).
The original and Pirate Cove still hold a certain unique charm for me because of the fond memories I have of the involvement in the day to day lives of the little folk. I can still happily set up a small to medium size island with various industries working away and then sit back for a bit and enjoy the little touches like watching the detail of the guys hauling the farm goods down the docks and seeing little piles of merchandise pilling up for the dockers to load up. Could always gurantee that as soon as I built a Pub/bar the first and most often to frequent it would be my Priest so I was always being moaned at by the religious sector about the requirement for prayer facilities (should have just operated mass from the local bar, would have saved a fair bit of land considering the size of the churches/cathedrals) lol
The Pirate Cove had a nice twist with regards to sending out the pirates you were "entertaining" who could then raid for goods and more islanders to up your population. The more competent your pirates became the wealthier they became and built themselves bigger residences and demanded a better level of "services" from your island to keep them happy when on land.
I'd say for sure you would get your monies worth from these two older versions and also happily be able to run them at full whack which back in the days when I was using just a 566mhz - 64MB RAM machine was sadly unable to do lol
