You can blame uplay for that. Everytime they release an AAA game, uplay goes down

Skydrift. I guess not enough maps

Most likely because of the somehow buggy multiplayer.
Ever tried to play with more than 3 people on this game? You can't : most of the time, the 4th guy gets teleported in another dimension. In other words, you can see him, but he can't shoot anyone nor can he win the race. That's sad, because the game is good.

I didn't know the state of the game when it was released, but it was fine when we tried multiplayer. although we were relatively nearby to each other so we had good connection and the game is using p2p conenction and depends on the hosts.

Last time we played Skydrift in multiplayer, it was... hell, we were still in 2012. The game came out in 2011.
We thought it was one of us causing this, but after a little bit of research, we weren't the only ones facing this kind of issue. Here's a topic describing the same issue... it's from last year.
So yeah, consider yourself lucky. I still have the game installed in case my friends wants to play it again.

Madballs in Babo: Invasion.
Really fun little game, but the multiplayer is just dead. It's a shame really.
But the singleplayer is still very enjoyable :)

Super Monday Night Combat is dead :'( I can't blame people for not wanting to play after the devs abandoned it though. It's a real shame, one of my favorites.
Showdown Effect was also dead last time I played.
Super House of Dead Ninjas doesn't seem to get any good custom maps anymore either.

The timing of the release was also really bad. It coincided with RDR.

Yeah but RDR wasn't for PC and to be honest this was better multi player wise, played both of them :-).

That and only 10 players per game I think. Maybe it was 12.
49 hours logged. Such a great LAN game.

America's Army 2, mainly playable only with a community made client as stupidly US Army has closed their AA2 servers (while the total number of players was greater than AA3 players).

Brink - I honestly enjoyed it a great deal. Shame it had a lousy launch and only about 50 people picked it up.

Demigod - A DOTA-like long before that became the latest craze, and the title that got me interested in the genre.

Gotham City Imposters - Could have been interesting. Killed by the malignant cancer that is matchmaking.

Any game that uses GFWL - Nothing but blatantly false "Cannot find players" errors every single time. People pay big money for that.

Yea... GFWL.. Soo upset that Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City has it. The game itself can be really fun MP wise.. played it on console for a long while and decided to buy the PC version.. Only played it with 1 of my friends in the co-op and every time I make an attempt to get a vs mode going.. most people that I ever see is one other person..

Also for Gotham City Imposters.. it has a terrible netcode, that is why it did not do soo well. People would complain ( myself included ) but they never listened and let the game die out sadly.

+1 Demigod
What's that? A MOBA with graphics that won't make your eyes commit suicide? Who would want to play that?
So sad it's dead.

Yeah! Brink! That game was a bit clumsy in execution, but I never thought the multiplayer playerbase would croak so fast.

See, at this point, it would make way more sense to give all people who purchased the game some kind of free/exclusive costume sets, and then turn the game F2P with the option to buy-in on the cosmetics the old-timers got. It'd boost the community back up to activity again!

Bahaha, Sacrifice is one of my all-time favourites, right next to Startopia and Severance : Blade of Darkness.
Not that Severance is multiplayer, and Startopia is far slower paced and never really had server browsers...

Sacrifice is probably far better played on a LAN anyway~

I'd say Singularity. Storyline and overall setting were outstanding and I really enjoyed the game, even with a little repetetive and limited gameplay. And the multiplayer? Incredibly entertaining with fine concept and realization. Unfortunately, this is just another game that died too quickly.

Spec Ops MP wasn't supposed to be implemented to begin with, it's only there now cause publisher demanded it from devs to add it anyway. They gave interviews later (devs) saying how shitty it is and how you should just avoid it

Guitar Hero series. Community is pretty much dead and Activision taken down all the DLC last week. Of course it's a game where you literally can spend THOUSANDS of hours still enjoying it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you have a Guitar controller that can connect to the PC, I recommend you Phase Shift. A game that you can play any custom song from Frets Of Fire or just play ported songs from every Guitar Hero with all the DLCs included. The community is quite active and you can find some people to play with only if you create an event. Obviously because everyone need the same songs to play together.

I tested, I approved.

On PS3, I recall Warhawk and Condemned 2, great multiplayer but no one plays it,
in regards to PC, all I think of is ARMA 2, Which not many servers are available!

Warcraft 3, I could not care less about the ranked but it was a great platform that still has some of my favorite games to date. It had a major influence on gaming in the form of DotA (not even the best of the game type there) and TDs to name a few. Sadly while some new maps still get worked on it is virtually dead kept on life support by cross server hosting bots.

Supposedly communities for some games moved over to Hamachi and still do things like tournaments. Warlock Brawl and Castle Fight being two examples of that.

Another would be Gunbound, although it might as well of died years earlier when it got bought and started going downhill fast.

Blizzard shot themselves in the foot with WC3 in my opinion.. but it did have a bunch of really nice custom maps. The only real reason to get WC3 is for that. Ladder for it has way too much hackers on it. I remember trying 10 games.. every single opponent where either orcs or humans, and they would build towers that went up instantly around my base at the beginning of the game.. they where not even harvesting either in the replays.

Well a large thing that killed it, beyond the Dota domination pushing out other maps, was shortly before SC2 released they put out a patch that completely broke 75% of the maps. Basically anything newer than 4 or 5 years stopped working. Really hurt the community
