Question regarding points & new users

I wanted to do a private GA for my friends, who are not on steamgifts yet. But then just in time I realized that they will probably not be able to enter it because they do not have any points yet. Is this correct or will they start off with a certain number of points when registering?

I know that they would gain points over time, but just wanted to do a quick and easy GA for them.

When they register, they get a number of points. A number I can't quite remember. 25? 30?
