The possible downside (for them) is that the free dlc offer overlaps with the biggest shopping events of the year, black friday and cyber monday, so some may still buy a bit frugally and get it.

And it looks like they're experimenting with a more story-driven mini campaign, that's more than I expected from this pack.

Legacy ops is fun enough, basically forgoing the strategy layer for a rapidly escalating roguelite play mode. Challenge archive is nice I suppose, but I never did spend much time with the challenge mode anyway. Skirmish mode is basically build your own challenge mode map.
Lore-wise the 4 scripted Legacy Ops don't really match up with the main campaign though. You'll face off against Avatars, the existence of Which is the mystery that drives the main campaign plot. Where these missions happen before the main campaign.
Extra cosmetic gear options are always nice, as are the extra poses for the photo booth mode.
Finally, X-COM: UFO Defense inspired soundtrack is pretty ace. Overall it's a cool package, and I'd consider it worth buying if I didn't get it for free already.

Hey, I bought WotC and played it along with the new DLC. I got to that level (it was the second mission for me, the one where you get your first engineer) where you have to shoot generators to push the counter by one before you get to the big one and it turned out a total disaster so I rage quit. I don't even know why I got so upset, I usually like the difficulty curve in XCOM. Any tips? Is there a "proper" way to play this level? The only mistake I think I made was that I wasn't dashing from the beginning.

Yeah, Dashing and keeping the pace up is key to those missions where you need to extend the timer.
Basically if you can explode a generator each turn you're in good shape. If you can pop more than 1 while you're not engaged with enemies that really helps too.

I didn't find any generators until after 3 turns or so, and when I did, I was surrounded by enemies. Weird. I started another campaign later, without the tutorial, and got a totally different second mission which was pretty easy. I guess it was just bad luck the first time.
I love it how the tutorial makes you play like an idiot and actually sets you back quite a lot. Skipping the tutorial always makes sure I have a "clean" game.
