That is very unspecific topic for Steam. All the stats are available regarding what games are being played on Steam. And all kind of games are played on Steam... Probably mode considered it as a pure flame, if you haven't specified anything else inside of topic.

I kind of aimed it at people on steam discussions, asking them what were their most played and favourite game genres. Maybe support had a misunderstanding of it,even though I don't think I should be banned for it,they could've removed my thread,or just locked it.

The ban is absurd but so was your topic. Everyone can see what people mostly play on Steam at any time after all.

I have never been banned (I think), but I know that's common for people to get absurd bans from Steam. I guess it was not the first time and will not be the last one, unfortunately.

I have been banned permanently by the Blizzard just because i did not recommend Diablo 4 on steam

my theory is that someone working for valve/steam doesnt like fiat punto
maybe it gives them PTSD and as soon as he saw your profile he banned you lol

Yeah... Steam moderation is ridiculous. Had a review for a game get banned so it doesn't show up, and when I asked they couldn't tell me why it was banned. I asked repeatedly for them to quote what got it banned but they would just repeat that it broke the guidelines, and wouldn't elaborate on it. So more times than not they won't admit when they've done something wrong, or rather my guess is they can't. I'm guessing most of the support who answer tickets have no actual power beyond simple fixes. I've slowly learned that Steam has gone downhill... Yet our loyalty remains.

my best game forum ban was a sad snowman steam emoji, thats it.....
steam gives devs way too much power with no system in place to rein them in

UPDATE: Steam support said it was a mistake, and unbanned me.

Things like this are why I avoid chatting on Steam threads entirely.
Because Steam Moderation is nuts, I prefer to create threads on external platforms, such as Twitter (X) or Reddit.
Everything is better than Steam at this point. I use it to play videogames and rarely use it to make comments.

All my experiences with Steam moderation and/or support have been absurd. Only once I knew I was talking to someone who was reading my words and writing a real answer. The rest, boilerplate text chosen from a list of "most probable replies for this subject". Damn, I hope they're not implementing some kind of stupid AI which will make things worse.
So they do nothing when a dev replaces a working game with an empty depot, but they auto-ban someone? No wonder, even if issues get solved eventually, Steam support has such bad rep.

Yeah I agree.. Also I wonder why everyone let's the fact that valve replaced csgo with CS2, essentially doing what some scummy Devs did, slide and act like it's no big deal. I think it's quite scummy too, although I think vale taking no action against Devs replacing games are normal now since even they themselves do it

You only get the month long community ban if you have a history of violating ToS in the forums repeatedly. Soooo....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the full story hasn't been revealed here.

Alright here's the full story
I used to be a total jerk back in 2018-2020 trolling forums and stuff,I earned myself like 3 permanent forum bans and 2 community bans (one 2 weeks, one 3 months) which all of them are removed now since I appealed support and then didn't use forums too much other than commenting in off topic/Counter strike forums and partaking in ycs and "what are you listening to now " threads
Earlier this year I made a "review" (actually just a review with the link to the said dlc) to an unlisted but obtainable game dlc, that got me community banned/account lock for two weeks too, which later were lifted
And now,I got this ban, probably because I already had a history with community bans like that before, although the reason didn't really make sense,I guess moderators (or stalkers, some stalkers used to stalk me 3 years ago) are just on my ass, although I have NO perma bans now
I guess what I did when I was a naive kid is getting to me now,but eh, I'll play it safe and just comment there and here
Do note though,I think the topic I made didn't have any content that violates the forum rules, maybe other than being in the wrong subforum.

Makes sense.
Personally, I would appeal. Itll be rejected by the mod who issued the ban. Then appeal again. You'll get a different mod the second time, generally speaking.

Yeah I'll try,I can't afford to pay for the games I bought again,so I'll try to resolve all my bans through support, but I think that's the only permanent ban I have right now

Edit: I got unbanned, and they apologized saying they did an error in judgement.
Now I'm appealing my other ban

Steam support contains not that many human force. Most work is done by AI. So if your account was flagged in the past - it still remains in your profile history (even if they removed it on the surface) and that gives their BOT couple of +1 to risk meeter. In that case false positives might happen. I was once warned by bot for using word "nazi" which was not allowed. The thing is that I wrote "jednostki NAZIemne" which means "ground units". I suppose if I also had history of being banned in the past - that would give me not a warning but instant ban (what actually happened to other users) xD I'm not talking about steam forum though. But bot is a bot and this is more or less how it works.

Yes. I sincerely doubt contacting steam will be helpful in any way as they talk like you're a fae, trying not to bind themselves in a contract.
Comment has been collapsed.
I mean, they can just log the upvote dates, that way they can easily see who upvoted after it changed.
When I ask for details from Steam support, they usually explain it to me, though there were times they dodged my some questions, but mostly they were fine towards me. Comparing other companies, they are more easy to talk to.
I feel like it depends which support member talking to you, some of them are either too inexperienced or trying to be obscure for some reason.

Not sure but I guess they don't care about it much as long as it's not permanent. I got banned from all community activity for a short time (cannot remember the exact period but it was sometime shorter than a week), just because I upvoted a review that gone bad. Steam Support said, just wait, probably because it's temporary and somewhat unimportant for them.

Of what relevance is your case? You claimed that contacting Steam wouldn't be helpful and actually they already had resolved it.
Or in your words: Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean that you are right and contacting them won't do any good.

So,I wondered what type of games people play mostly on steam,I made a thread about it,on steam Discussions, after I got one reply my thread was suddenly deleted, and I got one week ban for being "redundant and off topic". And shortly after I got one month community ban despite not breaking any rules... Has anyone ever had similar experiences? Should I contact steam support? What to expect? Also, when I go to steam homepage,I see no account alert pop up,at all
Here is my ban reason: https://i.imgur.com/h8aM1JS.jpg
Steam profile says I'm one month community banned: https://i.imgur.com/FU5aBUQ.jpg
