There's hype for CotN, so...

I would say if you like lots of managements go for sword of the stars.
If you like fast paced action, go for crypt.

Would go for crypt if I were you though.

Well the one is an upgrade and the other a completely new game. If you already enjoy Sword of the Stars and feel that upgrade will make you enjoy it for even longer I'd go for it. If you feel you're not enjoying that game much anymore and might not play for some time I'd go for Crypt.

Also check if the bundle for Sword Stars is cheaper than the Upgrade on it's own. I have 2/6 items in that bundle(one of them being the upgrade) and my price for the other 4 is lower than it, with them being discounted for less.

Crypt Of The Necrodancer

Crypt probably. Unique games ftw.

Well... The Upgrade is much cheaper if you like the game, already... I didn't...

Crypt looks like a fun game, and it is getting great scores and recommendations... But it is 3 times more expensive...

Knowing what SotS:The Pit is, I would go for Crypt, but I really didn't like SotS...

The Pit is great

Crypt was one of my favorite games of last year. The soundtrack is great, and the variety of enemies is damnably clever. If you haven't watched videos, it's a rhythm-based rogue-like. I absolutely recommend picking it up.

I recommend you Dungeon of the Endless instead.
Its one of the best, most challenging 'roguelike' games out there - once you get how to play it, you'll be addicted. :P

Tried Crypt of the Necrodancer and i can wholeheartedly recommend it :) game itself is fairly simple and the music is great <3 if you can you would try to get collectors edition for music and extras ;)

I played Necrodancer for several minutes, and personally, I didn't liked it. I'm not into otoge and I prefer dungeon crawling at my own pace. Still, if it looks like your kind of game, I'd say go for it. Objectively speaking, it's a very good game.

Get SOTS: The Pit ONLY if you're okay with games where your success is heavily influenced by RNG. If RNG stops giving you food, you'll starve to death. If it stops giving you ammo you'll die. If all your weapons break and you can't find a new one, you'll die. It's one of those games where RNG can and probably will screw you over and over again and there's not much you can do about it. Developers said on forum that's how they intended the game to be so there's no hope it'll ever get become a fair game.

EDIT: I just noticed you're talking about the upgrade. If you absolutely love the game then go for it, otherwise don't. Also do note that Gold Edition doesn't have all DLCs.

I haven't played COTN and I honestly don't see why people like that game. The game seems to be very shallow and I get the impression that the only reason it's so hyped is due to its gimmick of following the beat to play around which makes the game unique.

Crypt is pretty fun, even if you suck at it (like me) so I'd probably say that. Plus there's always bard, who you don't have to worry about the beat with.

EDIT: Oh, I just noticed the GE Upgrade, too, lol. It's not all that special, so Necrodancer would probably be more content, but I don't know which you'd enjoy more.

I end up buying SOTS bundle like KonOkami suggested and the DLC Rescue Team Add-on for Dungeon of the Endless since emperorzorn reminded me that i need to play it more :)
I will end up buying Crypt of the Necrodancer next sale for sure!
