I have returned! Finally.

SpeedTest time
Old was capped at 150GB a month (shared, so I got 75GB)
New is uncapped

Urban Trial Freestyle was currently the only game in my inventory, but I'll see about getting my hands on some other stuff when I can farm cards that popped up in the last month.

Past posts

I need a new ISP, hate that this keeps happening.

If I win any giveaways, use this as a reason for a reroll. Not sure when things will be back up.

If you are in the Summer Madness group and win my giveaway, it might be a while before delivery. I'll do my best.

Not sure when I'll return, don't have a PSP collection to sell off this time around.

Cellphone browsers are not fun, and I need to walk in the rain to use the library WiFi. So don't expect updates until I can pop up with a few hundred or whatever my ISP wants. Really wish they would offer what I want. A cheaper cap.

Alright, since I have a couple of dollars to spare, I can go to the library to deliver Gauntlet to my winner, and also accept any wins I might get if lucky with the Summer Madness event. Yay.

Got the equipment, but won't get some setup details until Monday. They create my account at the expected arrival date. Guess I can wait two more days.

So, on my first call to my new ISP, I had to correct my address, since the call guy thought I was in a different part of the country.

Secomd call, turns out correcting him didn't work. Still entered the wrong address. Corrected it again.

Got a package with the gear. Turns out I still need a tech to set things up.

Today the tech calls to see if I would be home. Said yes. Got to waiting. Half hour later, tech calls to ask where I am, since the house was unoccupied.

Yes, they sent the tech to the wrong address that I already corrected twice.

So, now I'm waiting another week for a new tech. I'm in a poor mood.

Tech showed up today. Set stuff up.

Connection not working yet, but was told it might just take a few hours for everyone to do their stuff on the other end. So hopefully I'm back tonight.

Tech didn't submit their paperwork. I have nothing until they do. >:(

No, there is a limit. I just don't know how long as my last long downtime was before I was using Steam for games. I'm just wondering how long it is before my PS2 and Wii are my main game choices.

Sorry to hear this Delta! Here's to hoping that ISP of your's gets their **** together or a new one coming to your area altogether. Bright side is where there's a demand, supply is usually not too far off.

There is a smaller ISP I need to check out. They do offer some uncapped services, but need to find prices and speeds.

Bah, seems I have more to pay now. When I last checked the amount owed, it was still last month. Jumped up a few hundred more. I could have gotten it back either this week or next. Not now.

Guess I'll start a new game in Pokemon Platinum while I wait it out. Certainly checking out other ISPs.

Such an offer has seemingly not been available in my area when asking about a better cap. Not that it matters, since my bill is increasing even without getting any services I'm expected to pay for, I'll be going elsewhere.

Contacted another ISP. I'll be going from 130 / 10 Mbps to 15 / 5 Mbps speeds, but paying only half as much and losing the 150GB datacap. I'm sure I'll survive.

Just need to wait for a tech to come around and set everything up. If I'm lucky, I'll be back online before the two week mark.

Yeah, but you government is crazy with their purchase cap. You must be use to crap. I've gotten used to far too bloody expensive high speeds. Everything is going to be 10 times slower.

But I'll have some extra spending cash at least. After I take care of my bill from my old ISP anyway.

In long term, you'll see that a lower speed without datacap is a lot better than bloody expensive high speeds plus datacap.

And yes, I'm used to crap internet compared to other, but here this is a powerful connection ;_; Sad

Oh, I know it will be much better in the long term. But I will miss the days of -BOOM!-, downloaded.

True, but 15 still isn't bad. Its plenty for video streaming and gaming, its just pure downloads that really suffer. And half the cost without a cap is great. I'd cut my speed if it meant half the cost, but it only ends up being like 15% cheaper if I drop down from 25 to 15.

Still better than ADSL (due to the 5 up), so not bad if you can't get VDSL or fibre.

The 15 / 5 is actually VDSL. But as long as it works and ia uncapped, I'll be happy enough.

I'm in the middle east right now because of my work and I'm paying around USD 85 for a measly 2 Mbps connection T_T

Comment has been collapsed.

That's interesting. Are you sure it's actually 15/5 max and not at least 15/5?

None of the big ISPs limit VDSL to 15/5, and, from what I've seen, most advertise it as 20-50Mb/s down and 5-10Mb/s up (exactly what you'll get depends on your line.)

Still haven't heard from the tech after a week. Called back. Told I can expect to hear from them in a day or two. Wish me luck. I really want internet back before the weekend.

Its been over two weeks since I've downloaded any ****. New games would also be nice.

They offer uncapped. :D

Hopefully the service is good though. Not sure how they are compared to my old ISP. Prices may have sucked, but problems could be sorted quickly. With this new ISP, I was already told to expect a tech, and instead I get my hardwear in the mail with a manual for setup.

NZ$120 (half the price) for 15 / 5 Mbps speeds (down from 130 / 10 Mbps speeds). No more cap males the speed loss okay.

That's 3 to 4 times what I am paying and I'm getting thrice the speed with no data cap.

This was your chance to make sure the tech had the correct address. You should have expected there to be a screw-up due to the fact that they had already screwed up twice before. Lesson learned, I hope.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having so much trouble with this, and I hope it all gets resolved, soon, so that you can put it all behind you. You will want to check back with the company as soon as you get the chance because they (apparently) still haven't got your address sorted out, yet. It is likely that, somewhere in their system, they still have the wrong address.

True, I should have asked him, but this was early in the morning and I wasn't quite awake. Had to have him repeat who he was. And confirmation then wouldn't have helped. Connection setup was prepared for the wrong address in advance.

Their call center now has the correct address, it was confirmed when I called about the tech after. But they didn't update the tech after the correction a week ago.

I can only hope they can get another out soon. Its too cold and wet to keep coming to the library.
