Greetings community,

We've been holding back this policy for a while now, but it's to the point that we can no longer update with the occasional announcement to remind people to report or submit a ticket instead of commenting. These "fake" comments are the first that anyone will see when looking at a giveaway and it's not fair to the community. More importantly, it's disrespectful to the submitter. Effective immediately:

  • Do not call out submitters in giveaways. Please click the report button or submit a ticket, do not comment on the giveaway claiming the giveaway to be fake.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Just to be sure, what's the penalty if you do this? I don't do it, I'm just curious of the penalty.

No need to question it, its a rule on a private website. Stop acting like a child and carry on.

it's not Nazi Germany or Soviet Union it's just wrong way to do it. it's rule and do it. if u comment it's fake giveaway it's does not matter mods cant check all of the giveaways :) u need to submit ticket to report giveaway and submitter, and mods will check it's fake giveaway or not.

I guess you are still to learn the difference between questioning authority and respecting other people.
We can also see that you are not very good at showing gratefulness :)

Your right, it doesn't matter what the penalty is. And I wasn't going to do it anyway. I'm just curious of what would happen to someone who did.

If a giveaway is reported, but the mods are asleep and it doesn't get removed before it has alread ended, do the people who entered get their points back?

Permalink

I've read/seen some confusion between this and a giveaway getting taken down before it has ended and would just like some clarification please, thanks!

Points have always been refunded when a giveaway is removed to those that enter.

But what if your points are already the max? (300 I thought..)

You temporarily go over the limit until the site catches up and deletes any points you have over 300.

Thank god. Always irked me to see people accuse others who are giving away free shit.

I dunno if this rule was needed since many times I've noticed if a giveaway is fake looking at some comments and if people were falsely accused they could defend themselves with a comment or updating giveaway description.

It's still insulting to the person giving away the game. Especially for site new comers. I've seen it happen a few times, where a new comer would submit an expensive giveaway and is immediately shot down by ass-hats who think their points are too precious to risk or something. It happened to a dude who joined the site just to give away a copy of AC Revelations and people were not being nice to him.

+2. I imagine people who get flamed for making their first giveaway would not be enthusiastic to create more.

What about ASKING for some sort of proof, or simply if the giveaway is fake, instead of just posting the usual rude comments?

Seconded.

Yeah that would be more helpful if people politely ask for some sort of clarity that the giveaway is what it's supposed to be

sense of entitlement. Spending free points, at a chance to win a free game, yet people feel as if they should have consumer rights.

Yes, we've all seen the opportunity cost wiki..but again, that holds no water in these situations where the person is actually going through no effort at all to get points.

If necessary, a moderator will message the gifter inquiring about their giveaway. Do not call out gifters in their giveaway. Clicking the report button will put the giveaway to the top of my queue.

I think almost any rude comments have no place on this site. It's a generosity portal that costs nothing to participate in. It's poor form to be a thankless loser.

In that case, can we have a box to fill in with a reason when we report things? I sometimes post a comment saying why I don't like a giveaway, solely so that whoever checks it to see why I've reported it will be able to see a reason when they scan the comments.

Backseat moderation has never accomplished anything except trouble for people who are following the rules. Good to see at least one part of it becoming against the rules.

So even if you report giveaway right before it ends and mods don't have the time to remove giveaway, you get a refound even if mods see it 5 hours after the giveaway ended? Ok, seems fair to me.
