Does it have games you want to play?
Do you own a PS4 and want to use remote play?
I mean, really, an item has different worth to different people. What is 'worth it' to someone, is not worth it to someone else. Only YOU can make up your own opinion.

I have a PSP 2000 too, have had it for around 6 years now. Still playing games fine, and the fun never runs out. If you really liked psp 2k u should like vita too ^^

yeah, i just got one with 8gb card it fits about 3 games, or several small ones. Pretty dumb. I will probably hoard some mcs when they go on sale somewhere. Too bad they don't just use normal sdhc. I mostly got it to play resistance and the uncharted game since I love those series.

Great for playing PSone classics. There's not much good Vita game, I mean Gravity Rush and Uncharted feels like ok-ish and Tearaway sure looks cute but it's short. Soul Sacrifice is a grindfest. The only thing I can recommend is Persona 4 - even if you dont like JRPGs, you'll get hooked to it. There's also indie game released on the Vita, but you might think the price is silly since you can buy the same game on PC and just pay for much less for it.
In other word, just get the PS+.

Defiantly. Slowing building up a fine library of games and mixed with PS+, it's pretty great. PS+ is cheap and you can use the PS+ games for other PlayStation consoles, if you have some or one day will get other PlayStation consoles. Just remember to "buy" the games, when they are added to the PlayStation web store for free, which can be done via the Web store.
Also remote play with a PS4 is pretty damn great.
Must have:
Tearaway!
LittleBigPlanet
Velocity Ultra
Uncharted Golden Abyss
Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack
Super Stardust Delta
Motorstorm RC
Wipeout 2048
Persona 4 Golden
Excellent games:
Rayman Origins or Legends
Killzone: Mercenary
Sine Mora
Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition
The Walking Dead
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken
Guacamelee!
Sound Shapes
Plants vs. Zombies
Thomas Was Alone
Proteus
Retro City Rampage
Spelunky
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation

Also Sony are actually quite good at having low prices on their digital vita titles and great deals for it. They have shown lots of support for it, so if you pick one up, be sure to pick up a 32gb memory card, because you will end up with a lot of digital titles.

Aside from the overpriced memory cards. The PlayStation Vita is an excellent handheld. The hardware is fantastic and game library is solid if not excellent:
-LittleBigPlanet
-Tearaway
-Ys: Memories of Celtea
-Gravity Rush
-Uncharted Golden Abyss
-Wipeout 2048
-Killzone Mercenary
-Soul Sacrifice
-Persona 4: Golden
-Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
-Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
-Dragon's Crown
It also great for watching Netflix and youtube videos.
