Ok, so here's the deal. I had some very cat-astrophic days speaking in SG-manners. On saturday I had a job interview that went very well. Today I preached at church on a very challenging topic in a pretty unusual way. This went well too. And then I went to my hometown to meet with a friend and watch a tennis match live in the stadium for the very first time. And it wasn't just any match, it was the finals of the Swiss Indoors, a ATP World Tour 500 tournament. By that I not only got the chance to actually see Roger Federer playing live, one of the best players this sport has ever seen. play live. His opponent was Rafael Nadal and so I got a final with two players that are thought to share one of the most epic rivalries in sport at all. And on top of that, they both played an awesome match, with the perfect winner.
And as if all of this wouldn't be enough already, I had an absolutely major win-streak on Steamgifts with nine (!!!) wins within 3 days.

So yes, the cat was very, very nice to me on Steamgifts and in real life. And therefore it's payback time! I created a cat-astrophic thankfulnes train to share my joy.

To better keep out greedy people without any care for the reason of my giving you have to answer 5 very simple questions.* They're all easy to answer by reading my explanation and with one little and obvious googeling. Users on my wishlist or from the groups "Positive Thoughts" or "German Giveaways" can access the train directly by using the ticket in their exclusive Giveaways.

Here you get your ticket to the train.

The train is on its rails until next Sunday and starts low with Lvl 0 and goes up to Lvl 4.

* the questions are intended to be simple. It is not a puzzle! If you're stuck nevertheless or if one of the answers/questions is too unclear, please write a comment! For help with Q2 (especially if English is not your mother tongue) refer to this comment for help

It was harder to follow than I expected it to be. And my hands were hurting from all the claping. X-D
But it definitely was something to remember. :)

I was glad though, that it was only best-of-three. They don't have bigger breaks as I'm used from football. So when my friend had to go to the toilet he missed three games. Luckily I went to the bathroom before the game and wasn't drinking to much before it. ;-)

Sorry? You don't have to be sorry for that. He proved yesterday what a great player he is and a great sportsman as well. And since Federer won you definitely don't have to be sorry about anything ;-)

it was back in 2013, i assume, in the beginning of march. my team lost the game 0:2, despite Hulk playing in attack :)

Aaah, I remember that game. But I wasn't at the game itself, I watched it at home I think. :)

Yeah, Murat Yakin, they were writing about him quite regulary. His co-trainer that was with him in Moscow is now back in the staff of FC Basel.

when i spoke last spring to another person from your city he said that it was a huge relief when Yakin left the club, as the defensive tactics was quite annoying)
but i've seen quite a number of games in the international cups, where the team played very nice and aggressively)

FC Basel was quite a trouble maker in Champions League)

Comment has been collapsed.

He was rather succesfull (the same goes for Paulo Sousa) and he is an absolute genious in tactics. But on a personal level he was very unsympathic and there was a big danger, that the club would get massive problems within the team.
I think a lot of people do him pretty wrong, but I still wasn't unhappy either, when he left.

And I hope they become trouble makers in CL again. :) This season they were veeery unlucky in the qualifikation against Tel Aviv. So they have to be trouble makers in EL for this season, which is working ok so far. ;)

but current EL group is quite strong, if italians wouldn't give up at this stage already. polish team is the champion of their country, and despite of being on the last places in the domestic table right now, they are overcoming the crisis now and would be a challenging opponent)

Well they have beaten both Lech and Fiorentina. And they would have probably beaten Benelenses as well, if they would have kept on playing football after leading 1:0 instead of ignorantly thinking this would be an easy three points. Now it is quite open, but it looks good for Basel. Benelenses is clearly weaker and against Lech they now won three times in this season (2 times were in CL-qualifikation), so that should be possible too. And Fiorentina, well, they will be hard to fight, but in the first game Basel was clearly better than them.

Well, that's all stuff you don't have to worry about at the moment looking at the CL table of the Zenit group :)
But you probably aren't that content with the national championship?

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah, in the domestic league we've lost too much points already with the lower class teams, but it may be due to the Villas-Boas, that is going to leave the club in the end of the season, so for him getting the best possible results in CL are much more preferable.
but having that much points in CL group could be a problem for us, if we are going to lose today) it will become very nervous group ending.

Really? Is a comment like this necessary? I only see one hating and intolerant user in this discussion and it's not me...

I'm open for honest discussions, but not for something like this. So please leave this thread.

and btw: I didn't say it was challenging because of the lack of people reacting to my work. That was your interpretation alone and it is pretty wrong

May I ask what you were preaching on? I'm genuinely interested

Since it was reformation sunday I preached on Mk 16,15 and the need of church to constantly have new reformations. People and societies change and if the church doesn't reach all people with the message of Jesus Christ, then it has to change so that it does. So I was challenging my church: How do we shape church, so that it helps people to understand that, what is important, rather than being a stumbeling block.
(Of course this is a very, very short summary, but I hope you get the idea :) )

Hey, good stuff. I was gonna ask too, but Syclonix beat me too it. I salute you for your bravery for public speaking. I actually preached for a couple years too when I was in my teens. I can't tell you how many sermons I delivered on Mark 16/Acts 2. Bahaha.

Have a bump friend! :)

Thank you for your bump and your comment. Nice to hear from a fellow (former) preacher. What happened that you stopped?
Well Mark 16 and Acts 2 are of course classic texts that are very central to our understanding of church and christianity, so no wonder they get used quite a lot. But I also very much like to preach about texts, that aren't that well known. :)

Interesting. Can you give an example of one way the church would need to change?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I give you an example where church did change: Language of the Bible. We still read the same Bible, but we have translations that speak our language and are understandable for everybody.

And in the same way, service, structures, buildings etc. have to change or be at least questioned. One example could be the time of gathering. Most services are still at sunday morning. But there is no obligation to do so. So a church has to ask: Is the time we gather just a nice tradition or is it really helping?
The same goes for stile of music, welcoming people and so on. Often churches get into a mood of "we always did it that way" and forget that there often was a specific reason to do certain things in a certain way. But when these reasons are no more, churches have to rethink it.
