Thanks for the review and GA. I enjoyed the review a lot. It would be interesting (well, for me if nobody else) to follow it up with a "CIV VI for CIV V players" post to give a bit more detail about how it differs and why we should make the jump. I'm sure I'll get CIV VI at some point, but it would be nice to be able to anticipate why :)

with that, I'd like to know if it feels more like IV or like V, if not a more direct comparison.
Personally, I disliked the feel of V, it felt more arcadey, more casual. It seemed closer to Civilization Revolutions than Civilization IV.
That happened to be a general trend with Firaxis at the time (see Railroads!, Ace Patrol), but then X-Com was a complete 180 delve back into hardcore strategy, and I'm hoping the same can be said for Civ IV.

Off the top of my head, I'd say it's a lot more where Civ IV left off than Civ V. I didn't spend a lot of time on Civ V, and didn't enjoy it much compared to Civ IV.
I played a few XCom titles as well, not the latest, but wasn't a big fan. The story line is interesting, and the dynamics are cool, just wasn't completely sold on it. Hopefully once I get to play XCom 2 it may change my opinion.
I won't hate on Firaxis for experimenting, as they've clearly learned their lesson and gone back to making good games after a bit of a wobble. As long as they didn't keep polishing turds with fancy graphics like some franchises. :)

I'll never hate on someone for experimenting. I just hope that if it doesn't succeed they learn their lesson.
I'm not even sure what about Civ V I don't like. The hex tiles is fine, lacking stacking isn't the issue either. The incremental changes had some nice additions.
I just felt the presentation and the pacing were off.

I typically do tech reviews, so I have a more of a format with that.
With this one, my thoughts were all over the place, and had to move paragraphs around to make it flow better.
But yeah, it is quite long...not long enough to cover all though. ;)
Thanks for the feedback.

As a starting point? You mean you want more info in the review, or you mean in terms of me doing game reviews?
Typically I do tech reviews, so there's more of a standard flow with those. Game reviews are more of a 'living' review that sometimes evolves. :)

haven't read the whole review, but looks like a solid and honoust review of a great game, thanks!

I'm really thinking on buy this one, the thing I fear is, like CIC V, thy made a complete edition cheaper than the standard game right now.

So, as the title clearly describes, I completed a review for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Please do share your thoughts, constructive criticisms if you have.
It took me quite a while to rack up enough game time to attempt to do the review justice, and still wasn't able to cover every aspect of the game without the review itself becoming a book on its own.
And have a GA of appreciation for your time.
