Nothing wrong with it, it's a persistently relevant topic. But even as a dedicated anime enthusiast, I have to admit that the vagueness of the prompts does severely limit their utility, and emphasize a certain spammy flavor. I'd much rather have threads like "What's your favorite new anime of 2015" and "What's your favorite Shonnen anime?" and "What's your favorite anime relationship?" and "Which Mech is Sexiest? Swimsuit Photoshop Edition!". With broad questions, the lesser known anime have that much less likely a chance of sticking out from the usual recommendations, and each thread lacks strongly meaningful relevancy when compared to the previous ones.

I notice a distinct lack of detail to that prompt. What defines crazy? Crazy cool? Crazy psychotic? Crazy psychotic yandere? Crazy gory? Crazy absurd? That's exactly as vague as any of the others, if not even more so. :P
Besides, I was indicating that more focused threads were preferable, not that they didn't exist at all. :P

If you think Akira is one of the more normal ones, that would seem to indicate that you're just not familiar with any but the weirder or more intense anime. :P
Keep in mind that anime covers as wide a breadth as American television (and due to more acceptance for experimentation, a wider breadth than that), so you can't really lump categorize them anymore than you can any other form of media. Of course, most are done with Japanese culture sensibilities, and those are as weird as America's, so if you have trouble relating to outside cultures, that may hinder your enjoyment of the shows. Still, there are some that are done in tribute to American, French, etc styles, so there's certainly some out there for everyone [who isn't opposed to anime as a rule].

Ranma 1/2 because I'm the type who likes comedies and it's the funnies comedy ever.
I'm Bulgarian... but that really doesn't mean much as far as tastes go. When I was a kid the only anime that they ever showed on TV (that I can remember) were Pokemon and Naruto and I don't particularly care about either of those. I discovered Ranma 1/2 on my own on the Internet. :P

I really much liked Ranma 1/2 as well. Can remember, that when I was younger, wich was before the time I had Internet I was always recording the episodes to vhs tapes. Had about 50+ episodes in the end. =)

My absolute favourite anime is 'Beck' one wich is not that well known I think.
It's about a Koyuki, shy guy with kinda bad taste for music who meets Ryusuke, the young main guitarist of a band. They become friends, while Koyuki secretly admires Ryusuke and starts to practice the guitar as well.
Well, I'm not too good at advertising stuff, especially if I write in english but I absolutely love that show. Nice music, cool charackters and very emotional.
