I've been playing Dead Rising 2 which I've won as part of the Playing Appreciated group and now I'm stuck since I've encountered a game breaking bug.

It happens during the One Hit Wonder mission, during the QTE with Bibi on stage, the game just crashes after the 3rd list of button prompts.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to fix the issue?

you should try the community hub on steam and maybe report the bug if this has not been reported before https://steamcommunity.com/app/45740/discussions/

It has, no response from the devs.

Your only hope is other players ,dev never respond there. Also try Google search

Tried searching, no luck other than someone saying to try to restart my PC which didn't help. Left a thread there, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Normally I would recommand if you can maybe get a savegame right after that part so you can avoid the bug but I guess DR2 is a game with too many branching options (story choices, weapon & ability upgrades) that that's not a valid option.

I'm thinking of just abandoning her there and hoping the main quest keeps going with her forever waiting for me to start the show :)).

Yeah. If it's a sidemission that's probably your best option.

Maybe try to advance further in the main story and come back and try again later - sometimes this already helps.

Probably what I'm gonna try, issue is the mission might run out of time, but heck as long as I can continue the main story I'll live.

Oh, come on. It isn't that bad, is it ? I only played like 6 hours coop with my buddies before we got sidetracked but so far it was actually rather enjoyable.

You said you restarted your computer, the thread talks about resetting your computer tho..

Uhm, there's a difference?

I - personally - would think of resetting as completly setting it up again -> re-install windows. For me a reset is to set it back to factory status.
This would make sense since maybe some other programm is blocking exactly this part. Seems like a lot of effort for a single game tho...

Maybe reinstalling the game could help? (Make sure to save your savegame somewhere so you won't have to start all over again!)

Um, no?
Resetting is usually the same as restarting the comp.
There's even a Reset switch on the case for when the software locks the system and a regular OS restart is not possible ;)

let me deny your "Um, no?" with quoting a single word from my previous post: "personally". I said that I (!) think of it like this.
Always consider someone not being 100% fluent in english - maybe he meant it the way I did? Maybe he meant it as a simple restart :P

BOTH are possible and plausible answers ^-^
But yea, you're right about the reset switch - even tho I (again) personally prefer to see restarting an electronical device as turning it off/on and resetting as bringing it back into factory status and setting it up again :P

Have you tried to complete another mission then going back to it?

These things are on a timer so I'm not sure I have time to do so, this was the last thing on my way back to the safe house (I have 2 guys to bring back already with me) before a main quest thing. But I'll take them back and go back to her when I have time to play again, might as well give it a shot.

try playing in windowed mode. i avoided crashes in some games by doing that (Rage, for example).

I solved it with a file integrity check, but tnx though.

Oh, man. That sucks. I recently finished Dead Rising 2 and I had no problems at all (fantastic game, by the way). You could always kill her. I mean, sure, it's not the best thing considering you can save her, but she is a psychopath after all.

Problem solved with an installation check. Glad I didn't waste all that time on her for nothing (took a long time to get her a crowd of zombie "fans", had a bee follower keep killing them for me (it's a cocktail).

Sounds good. I'm glad you were able to fix it. DR2 is too good to be tainted by bugs this big.

Tnx for all the help, ended up validating the installation and it worked after that, crisis averted.
