When you create the giveaway, you have to put when it will start and when it will end. Did you even read anything on that page? There's no way to change that after it's created.

Would any bad rep go to my profile if I delete and start an hour long one?

Seriously, just wait. If you delete (I think you have to give support a valid reason to delete it, and I don't think "it's taking too long" is a valid reason for that) it will stay on your profile as a deleted giveaway. You don't get bad rep, but it will always be on your profile. Just wait.

Sort of. Not exactly rep per say, but it wouldn't look good.

There's no reason to delete it anyway.

Well, you wouldn't be able to make as many giveaways. To cut down on scammers, the site has a system where you can only make a certain number of giveaways at a time. You will only be able to make more if you receive positive feedback. If I recall correctly, when you start out, you can make up to 2 giveaways.

Anyway, as I said, there's no reason to delete. Just play some games or take a nap or something.

I set my first giveaway at a month, or nearly so. I don't know why. I was new here and I didn't know how the site "moved." But I did that intentionally.

You have a week to send your gift before the recipient can leave negative feedback, so if you have to go to school or work, don't worry about it. If you can edit the description, put a note in there saying you'll be back tomorrow and that the winner should be patient.

Cheers and thanks for making a gift here.

Don't worry man, in 5 minutes it will be just 4 hours 59 minutes until the giveaway ends.

Just wait for it to finish and send the gift to the winner whenever you can, as darkreality said you have a full week to send it.

Because you have to have at least $100 in non-bundled games to sign up. And, there are 390,000 members. That's why you see thousands of entries.

390,182. :D

$100 entries? That sounds great and I see that you can't enter for stuff you have or DLC you don't have the game but one problem I have is I have "The Walking Dead" and I have seen a lot of its DLC on here, I tried to get and it says "Missing Base Game", is that because I traded off someone for the gift? Cause I trade for a lot of my games and that will really suck.

When did you add The Walking Dead? SG only synchronizes with your Steam account once a week. http://www.steamgifts.com/sync

You need a steam library that's worth at least $100 to use this site (and bundle games don't count, or at least not at their current store value). Admittedly some people probably have alts with valuable enough libraries, but not many.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, I never got the logic behind that. They blow $100+ on separate accounts for the slight change to win a free game? If they have that much money to waste, why even bother with the site?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's why the threshold is $100 and not lower, to make it that much harder. And also why all bundle games are $0 now.

Permalink

Oh, they're at $0? I didn't know that, thought the calculation was somehow similar to CV. Good to know, thanks :)

You said you created a 6hr long giveaway, when I look at your profile, it says you created it 58 minutes ago and it ends in 5 hours, what is the problem?

5 hours is a long time..

Well you don't have to send the steam key/gift to the winner as soon as the giveaway finishes, you can do it tomorrow. :)

Next time do a 1 hour long and you won't have that problem...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You should've thought of that before you created the giveaway, and you selected six hours. The site even tells you to make sure that everything is as you like it, because once the giveaway is started, it cannot be changed.

So, too bad. Your giveaway ends five hours from now, and you have one week to give the winner their gift. Deal with it.

if your busy when it ends just send the item when you can. you have a week before they can claim they didn't get it so you have time.

if your just waiting for it to end just play something on steam or watch youtube kitty vids or something.

So I can have a week and its not Physicaly possible for them to do anything between that?
Also, is there a max amount of giveaways am allowed cause I wanna give away more, I found that contribur giveaways have a lot less peopleee and I have never wona thing to all I entered.

There is a limit to how many giveaways you can create, and the giveaway page will tell you. Your limit will increase as you accumulate positive feedback (i.e., winners marking the gift received).

You have one week. If the winner has not received the gift after 7 days, they can mark the gift Not Received, and that hurts your feedback score. If your Not Received count goes too high, you start losing access to the site.

Permalink

The limit is for how many you can have active at a single time. There's not limit to the total amount of giveaway you can make.

My guess is that you set the time until the giveaway starts to 6 Hours... and then you waited almost 7 Hours and that you either had no clue or that you are trolling base upon the comment "It's been hours and only 50 minutes has past!"

Not trolling, impatient and hyperbolic. cippey set the giveaway to 6 hours, and then realized that 6 hours is a long time.
