5 years on SG and still doesn't know how to insert images in posts -- classic. xD

I've only been here two years and I've already noticed big changes. I wish I was here to see the great beginnings where people where less cynical and there were even more great people around.

Well, happy late cake day. 5 years is a long time - I just reached level 5 with a bit more than one year.
Anyway, I like to give away games that I enjoyed (and of course games I got in a bundle, that I don't want
just like anyone ^^), and I don't know if there is much for you left to win but you know... ^^

Thanks for all your contributions so far Amano! Don't give up all hope yet!
A belated happy cakeday

Sick Puddle of Mudd callout there ;)
I feel like a lot of us are getting to the same point. I used to give away way more than I got, which was fun and rewarding and if I won a game, all the better. Lately I rarely spend a quarter of my points, most of which goes to the ol' wishlist titles but I eventually just end up buying whatever I want (as the budget allows)
I think the site has only changed because the amount of shovelware being, well, shoveled onto Steam has gone up considerably. Hopefully that balances out at some point but Valve doesn't seem to care so long as they get their $100. Nor should they I suppose, they are a business after all.
Anyway, I didn't have a point here but happy anniversary, thanks for all your gifts so far and especially for this one :)

Happy cake day!
I feel you, i share some of the same feelings, reason why i go some time away from sg before getting back (6 years here). In my case the amount of games is also an issue, but what hits me most is having time to play then, still i can't help but still buy some here and there. Nowadays i just stick to humble's monthly (and not even every month, budget reasons) or buy something directly to support developers.
Its funny, im now at a position (due to backlog, lack of time, etc) where i only buy games for support- simply because chances are i wouldn't play something before it gets bundled and have no hurry. Heck, i got bundled sequels of games i sitll have to finish(the previous one). Collecting became a thing to me too at some point but not even that anymore- im not really bothering, just showing support.
Over the years ive seen user come and go, the site grow... but frankly i try not to think things have changed for worse. I bet if stuck around more i would meet/know the good users around currently, not to mention i suspect some are just more quiet (generally engaging within groups rather then on the foruns here)- what i believe is the perception of things changed. Its like shovelware- its not the good gas or good games are coming less to sg or steam, its the huge increase of shovelware that polutes the sites; Similarly... sg grew. A freanking LOT. Of course i bet the bots also increased.
What i mean is that theres more newbies, leechers, bots... because theres more people, more of everyone- even good users i dare say, its the most probable scenario. But knowing the community and seeing that becomes harder the more people there are- as well as engagement- the smaller the site was the more people were frequent in the foruns and whatnot, and so on.
Its like the world. We're what, billions, trillion already? Plenty of stupid, bad even horrendous people- but the sheer numbers also mean billions of good people, millions of great ones. SGs growth only means things are less personal, perhaps chaotic- but all the good is still here- and many people in that place you and i once were: excited, eager, etc.
Oh yeah: awesome GA btw XD

Edit: I am not in a bad mood, I am really not :D I even bought Yakuza 0 as a giveaway to celebrate my half decade :)
So, today is my 5th cakeday. I registered on this site on August 15th, 2013. 5 years ago. Time flies.
At first, i was totally overwhelmed and it did take some time to figure out how this site works. I had way less money then, didn't know about bundles and it took really long to climb the ranks. Leveling up felt like an achievment.
Oh boy, how did that all change!
Now I am earning a decent wage, am an expert deal and bundle hunter, my library exploded and collecting games has become a habit. A kinda meta-game in itself.
Leveling up means nothing anymore because there are hardly any games left for me to enter.
My experience with SG in those years? Well.. Meh. The site changed. Shovelware or however you want to call it floods the site. It's logical, because in this SG is a mirror of the current state of PC gaming in general and Steam in particular.
Quality of SG users has also declined. There are still a lot of jewels around but it is harder to find them in the puddle of mudd. There, I said it. And this saddens me. Anyone still around who still remembers the OddLama and his giving sprees?
Well, here is an obligatory giveaway which is very likely to end up in the hands of a leecher with many not activated games who only does region locked giveaways, can't say Thank you and will insult me when I don't send the key within minutes after his win and who will resell the key and claim I never send it.
Public giveaways nowadays. Only for masochistic people.
Edit:
SG community never ceases to amaze me, not even on my cakeday ;) (Pictured comment was posted on my Steam profile mere minutes after this thread went live. Must be an alt account)
Edit:
I wanted to give feedback if the winner was of the category I cynically described, but I can't give this feedback without calling him out, sooo...
Edit:
Unfortunately I had to delete the giveaway :( I bought the key from Voidu and the store page didn't mention a region lock because I bought the key with a european IP-address. But if you visit the page from outside of the EU, you get a warning regarding region lock. Which I could not see. Duh. So my key is EU only and I only found out about this after the original and the re-rolled winner both could not activate the key :(
Edit:
Here is a new giveaway for all your troubles with the old one, this time it should really be a ROW version.
