Well yes, different people can have different values...sure...but that really doesn't add anything to the conversation to suggest that. There are always things we as people will disagree on regarding what is right and wrong. I'm sure that there are things I advocate that you'd think are messed up.
Yeah...I believe that you and intoxeus, etc would change PCs in the next two years or so. And that Steam won't die by then. And that you'll be willing to play later.
I myself bought Portal from steam a year before I could play it. But the difference is that I bought that game. For a user to participate in these drawings to try and get games that they can't even run now...I see that as depriving someone else of the opportunity to get that same game (someone else who has both the interest and ability to play it when they get it). I see that as being greedy and selfish. I do not think it is a "bad" plan in terms of functionality, but I see it as being "bad" in terms of being polite to other users.
But if you have differing values, then you just have differing values. I just wanted the opinion heard. You can obviously do whatever you want as long as you're following the steamgift rules.

I hear what you're saying, but it's not like I'm not going to hoard these games for years. I'm planning on playing them very soon.
Not that it changes anything, but a large fraction of people on this site have computers incapable of running majority of modern games at acceptable frame rates. Do you really think it's putting them off entering for games that they will definitely play when they get the chance? I don't think so...
Honestly, when I can find an excuse not to enter for a game that I won't be able to play soon, I don't enter for it. For example, in group giveaways, where only few people join (as my chances of being a douche are larger). Same applies to any giveaways that specifically say "only enter if you can run / will play the game".

Damn, heard good things about Sleeping Dogs as well.

1965, but it was fake (Don't Starve) - the worst part is the creator made two giveaways of this game, the other winner did receive his copy... (I've tried contacting him after 6 days but to no avail).
885 then, Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory.
And damn you, OP, I was in that GA as well. :<

Although my biggest wins are Dirt showdown, blur and payday. I've won a lot of cheap DLC.
