As a winner rather than a giveawayer, would you rather the giveaway you won be a key or a gift type giveaway?
Gift is if it is in your inventory on steam...
key is if it is not.

If you choose 'key', you will have to enter the key(s) being given away at the time you create the GA. When GA ends you click on 'send key' and the winner will see it in their won giveaway page.
If you choose 'gift', you can add the key after GA ends, or the game is given away as a Steam Gift. You may also contact the winner and send the key out in real time, making sure the winner can activate while in chat.

you can allways choose gift. gift means, you will add later a key or you will send the gift per steam or mail or what ever^^
key -> you have to put the key directly into the system and you cant change it during the giveaway is running...

No.
-If you choose gift and decide to add key on SG/send key or gift link through email, you don't need to add the winner to send key.
-If it's a Steam gift, the winner will automatically be your friend once they receive the gift, even it's sent through email. If you happen to know their trade link and your gift is tradable, you can send through that without adding the winner.
"Gift" type simply means a more flexible way of sending the gift, and not necessarily be Steam gift.

i tend to giveaway gifts . as you dont have to befriend the person i do prefer it as i can make a screenshot of his name to the person i gave it away too and it works faster for me ;p can always unfriend after if you want to :)

I'm clicking "gift" always because later on you can still add a key for the won giveaway.
If it's a gift you don't have to add the winner on steam, the e-mail of the winner is shown only to you and you can send the gift (in the steamclient) via e-mail ;)

it is TO. if you have a gift or key that is only redeemed in russia for example, you should sign RU+CIS. only people in russia will be able to enter on it. if you mark none, it means that gift or key is row (almost everyone can redeem it with a few little restrictions due violence law or something like that if the game has)

just about anything you buy off steam for steam will be a key, and keys are usually cheaper, with a gift you have to friend someone but it is useful for those rare situations where there is an issue with the key since you know with a gift they absolutely have a copy and you have solid documentation thereof.

Note the date of the thread, the fact that the original poster hasn't been active for over a year, and the troll account doing a deliberate spam necro above.

Read up on restrictions of gifting on Steam, due to price differences and region locks first.

As Oppenh4imer said. And you should delete the giveaway right now and make it later with correct restrictions.
You won't be able to send it to anyone on Steam if they are in a region where the price is around 10% or more expensive.

Hi all,
I started to make my first giveaway and I'm stumped by the second question already (I'm off to a roaring start eh?). Do I want a giveaway of type key or type gift? I skimmed the FAQ but I don't see the difference explained anywhere which probably means it's so obvious no one has needed to ask...before yours truly. I'm kind of a pioneer in cluelessness that way. Can someone explain the difference? Aren't all keys gifts? Aren't all gifts keys?
(Look I made a discussion! Yay!)
Thanks!
