That's right folks, the classic Bullfrog series is back!

A F2P mobile game loaded with micro-transactions! Just what fans of the series have been waiting for all these years :D

Link.

Wanted a true sequel? This is what EA thinks.

Looking for a true successor to Dungeon Keeper? Check out War of the Overworld on Early Access! (Thanks Dopefish!)

Have you seen their ULTIMA game on i-os? I think they do it on purpose. They think that 1 little EA humble bundle will buy them fans's love.

EA - raping your childhood since 2008. Good bye C&C, PVZ, ULTIMA, DK, MOH, NFS, tons of other destroyed series.

i picked 2008 because they started to create SHITTY sequels after this year. Before they were just fine, imo And btw, theme hospital was not a series, only 1 game.

Technically, Hospital Tycoon was the sequel to Theme Hospital but it was bloody awful by comparison.

no hospital tycoon is a clone of theme hospital, and if memory serves a mediocre clone

The worst part is that EA doesn't even understand why we hate 'em.

I had heard of this a while back. I wish they'd just leave the classics alone, even if that meant there were no new games in those series ;_;

I have a friend who really likes it but says it still needs lots of work. Early access is looking really good so far though.

EA are only half of the problem. The other half is the customers that buy these products and then rate them highly.
As long as there is a market for it, and as long as it pays well, they will continue to butcher everything to feed the easily pleased.

That's the problem when you get too big, there's a good chance your company will lose 'soul' in the pursuit of profits. In their eyes, costs go up, so they use the cheapest tricks in the book to turn a quick profit. Really, they're suffering from the same blinkers that the big-budget movie industry is suffering from. The costs aren't necessarily going up, it's just that you're relying on expensive cop-outs to sell games, rather than take risks and try to create new stand-out titles. If you go the path of re-hashing the same tired old formula, yeah, you'll always have people to buy it, but they will always demand all the prettiest flashing lights. If you go the path of innovation, yeah, there's a good chance you'll create a flop and your profits will be far lower, but if you get it right you will CREATING classics-to-be, not ressurecting old ones as zombie-husks of their former selves. EA are a company that works best when crunching numbers and doing it 'big budget style'. Games like this are the ugly gremlins that secretly operate the machinery that keeps the 'big name' front alive.

It's a shame they aren't more adventurous really. Look at what they achieved with Mass Effect. For all it's little warts, the Mass Effect series was solid at it's base, and had a real heart behind it. EA isn't the devil it is made out to be, and has produced some good things (even if by proxy). It's kinda like Jekyll & Hyde. Hopefully they'll outgrow this in earnest, because if they managed to mature and stop being 'just a business', they really could be like a second Valve, if not better, given time.

Of course not. Who do I look like, a responsible person? I'm just a raging gamer who hates my favorite franchises being turned into casual freemium games. Even if they actually don't suck.

So what? EA is a shitty company, selling shitty games to their shitty customers who accept every shitty thing EA does.
The problem isn't EA. The problem is that huge bunch of idiots buying Battlefield X, no matter if EA wants to buttplug them as DRM...

So what? They took a beloved franchise and turned it into more mobile shovelware "app games". The series has a number of fans and it would have been great for this series to have been given proper treatment.

Hard to not blame EA, since this was 100% their decision after all...
