Heard it was god awful and I can see how this pans out. Ubisoft has already called 95% of PC gamers pirates. So they release this crappy game, with their draconian DRM, it doesn't sell well, and they blame it on pirates thus reinforcing their ridiculous claim.

Reviews seem decidedly mixed...some give it a 5, others an 8. As I am strictly a PC gamer, I stopped following it when it was no longer being developed for it, but I recall initially being interested in it, and the trailer certainly seemed good. With a $15 asking price, I can see me picking it up during the Winter Sale, if it's like 50% Off or more. As for the draconian DRM, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Since it's just a downloadable title, I'm not sure they'll bother with UPlay and whatnot.

95% :O. Some people I know pirate every game they play and then always buy the game after, even if they finished it.

Its so nice of them to pirate the game on release, and then buy it for 5$, three years later. If they cant afford the current price, they shouldn't pirate it.

Both of you, there wasn't even a word "sale" in his sentence. They can buy those games like a week after the release, you don't know, but start bashing already and using made up arguements like "buy it for 5$", "on sale" and "three years later". Not cool.

Exactly, he pirates the games on release and then buys them soon as possible when he gets the money which is around a month.

and thats TOTALLY understandable.

Ever tried to get an actual REFUND for a game that was not keeping the promises on the box? Or was utterly bugged to the point of unplayability? Or just was wrongly advertised in trailers and did totally not meet your expectations?

Piracy is a "play-before-you-buy"-tool, that i gladly used myself when i was short on money during school/studying. I would pirate a game, play it a while, decide wether to buy it(and if so, do that right afterwards), or not(and get rid of it again).

Preordering stuff like MoO3, or, more recently, SotS II or LoP really teaches people to try BEFORE(even illegaly), and not be stuck with something you wasted your money on and have no rights whatsoever to get a refund of.

how would 95% work out? I mean, do they say 95% of PC gamers are pirates and only 5% buy games? Does that make any sense?

That's what Ubisoft's boss claims. And it doesn't make any sense at all. He definitely pulled that # out of his ass.

97% statistics are made up on the spot anyway.. definitely was pulled out of his ass. And it's a ridiculous number, but it is how they choose to support their reasoning for the shoddy ass drm they have

@venomblade: you heard wrong. In fact, it was one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Very good survival game.

That's good to hear. We need more survival games! Too many franchises have turned into pure action :cough:ResidentEvil:cough:

Tried the PS3 demo and it was really bad. Gameplay sucked and the controls were dodgy. PC version couldn't really be worse so that's good right?

I play the xbox trial, it wasn't bad, but it's not my type of game.

it was supposed to be a genre defining pure survival game when it was announced I waited for years, accepted that it would be
arcade and not a full on disc game, paid 20 euro and what did I get a crappy assassins creed with a stamina bar and food. So I think it is worth saying ARRRR

This game would be worth it if Steam put it on sale for -75%.

I'll save my $15 for a developer that actually deserves it.

I sure hope there is a demo so I can see if this was as bad as the Xbox version. Although, I have been wanting to play this for a while now.

I'm actually excited about this game coming to PC, as Ubisoft claimed they weren't going to release it. Really liked the concept.

I like the price, but if it has DRM other than Steam I'm gonna have to pass.

I played the demo on the PS3. It's cool I guess, the gameplay is fun albeit a bit clunky and the animations are believable. The graphics are also pretty good. I did have a problem with the color palette though. It consisted of different shades of brown. And gray. Definitely not worth $15. For me at least.

Well it supposedly will have improved graphics, though I suspect the color palette won't change as that simply seems to norm for most post-apocalyptic scenarios.

It's a very very good survival game. It also happens to be one of the few left in the genre, since the Disaster Report series has been stopped.
