I know the rule about bundle games, that you cant get more than 30$ etc etc etc.
But if you think about it deeply, you will notice that 99% or even more giveaways here are made only from DISCOUNTS as well and all the contributors getting always the whole amount for that games. I know that The rules are The rules and u cant brake them bla bla bla. That is not 100% fair, everyone trying to pay less for the games and get the whole VALUE. Most of us are not Charity organisations with infinite CASH. The idea is brilliant but I think we should change some of the rules.

Why aren't wishlist games worth ~2x contrib value?

I'd love to see more Skyrim giveaways instead of garbage $.50 DLC giveaways.

I think unless you're going to completely overhaul the CV system to reflect not the retail or sale prices of games but the actual demand (ie adjust cv/points cost based on average number of entries for specific games) this is about as good as you're gonna get. Yeah, most people making even non bundle GAs probably payed half or less the retail price but so what? Most of those sales are only good for a day or two, so it's not like you can just go buy the games for that price whenever you want.

Giving away a game like say bioshock infinite nets you 30 even if you pay 10, but you also lose cv when bio infinite drops down 20 bucks, I doubt most games that are on sale will ever drop down to the price per game bundles hit, even onsale.

Oh look. It's this again. SSDD.

OP, you don't demonstrate any understanding of the way the bundle value works here at all. Your post isn't different or new, and your idea is just as pointless and whiny as the rest. "But moooooooom, I wan't more CV for my bundle games because the mean kids on the playground sometimes set giveaways to $0.01 more than my bundle only contribution so I can't play with all the cool kids to leech free games by only ever having to pay $1!!!!" Get over it, Cartman. Stop being a selfish prat about things, and spend a dollar on a sale game or DLC on Steam, boost your CV out of the bundle-only-zone, and STFU already.

Well most games are not $1 or $6 for 6+ games as it is in a bundle. Non bundle games are not that heavily discounted. Trying to track discounts of each and every game will be a full time job and the mods do have a life outside SG.

Good idea. I'll exploit some bundle for a penny a few hundred times and get MOST CV EVAR!

I could pick holes in what is fair or unfair about contributor value all day. It's just not worth arguing about and certainly not worth worrying about how it reflects on you as a gifter. I've said it a hundred times before, and I'll say it again now:

Contributor value shouldn't exist.

If you're giving away games just for the CV, you're doing it wrong.

All this whining about CV and how it should or shouldn't be calculated is pointless.

Everybody forgets that having high CV does not mean lots of wins suddenly popping around. Sure it helps, but working hard to increase your CV as maximum as possible is a waste of time, unless it's for e-penis reason.

Also, there are not really that many 100$+ giveaways (and a lot of people has 100$+ CV), so it's quite pointless having more than $50-$100CV (if you are doing that for extra chances), unless you are going for the few $3000+ tier giveaways that have at most 10 entries :P

Well, people go for discounts because gifting full priced games would be a waste of money (why gift a full priced game when you can gift 4x another game, or wait a bit and gift 4x that game?)...

That said, most bundles are discounted by 98% or so, it's a bit too much (75-80% is a discount, 95-99% is almost free)....

"That is not 100% fair"
100% fair is simply NOT POSSIBLE. First of all you would need to keep track of all the discounts all the time wich is simply too much work.. then you would need some way to prove if someone has bought a game for a discount or not, because if someone buys it at full price and hasn´t startet the giveaway and the game gets discountet in the meantime, how would you handle that in a 100% fair way? Then there are different prices in different countries.. people from Russia ur the US pay considerably less for their games then people who live in Europe.

I think the way it is right now is the fairest you can do.. you can never get a 100% fair system anyway and have to keep it simple to use and as easy to maintain as possible..

I myself dont care about the exact dollar-value or anything.. if I put up a GA with 1000$ value, I mean it to go to the good and active contributors.. if they´ve "only" spent 200$ to reach 1000$CV, its fine by me.. but it still would be nice to find a way to give an extra bonus to the awesome fullprice-contributors.. I can´t think of any way to do this, but maybe CG will figure something out someday, he´s smart like that ;)

Make it a private giveaway and invite the awesome fullprice-contributors (unless you're saying you want cg to identify the awesome fullprice-contributors for you, in which case you can just disregard this comment :)

You: WHY CAN'T I SPEND $4 and get $50 IN CONTRIBUTOR VALUE?!?!?!?!? CHANGE THE RULES!

Get over it. People with high CV are getting value for giving away shitty cheap bundle games because they have also given away good games that people actually want. The ability to get CV for your bundle giveaways is an incentive to give away other better games.
