Already got most of this bundle, so I'm going to pass on this one. I'm a bit peeved that Puddle is this cheap (since I got it a couple of weeks ago at a higher cost), but that's to be expected with indie games nowadays, I guess.

Also interesting policy regarding greenlight games (from the FAQ):
"Do I get a free key after a game is greenlit on Steam?
We do not provide free Steam keys after a game has been greenlit, You will have to ask the developer for one."

That's not interesting at all tbh, it's always up to the dev's or publishers.
Look at the recent Humble Weekly for example, people had to ask the dev's as well for Steam keys.

You can already get steam keys for some of the games from the multimedia fusion weekly?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

For the $6 tier games yes, the $1 tier games no.
2 games in the $1 tier are Greenlit and are only offered DRM-Free in the bundle, people had to send tweets/email to Humble and the Developers to get promised Steam keys

None of those were Greenlit, so I don't see your point.

OddPlanet and Pitiri 1977 were both greenlit. Neither are released yet though.

And we're talking about Faerie Solitaire, Knytt Underground, Really Big Sky and NightSky, so I don't see your point either. :P

While Knytt was Greenlit, it was already out before this bundle, so Steam keys are pretty much obligatory.

Kedyn asked: "You can already get steam keys for some of the games from the multimedia fusion weekly?"

As it was a question, I assumed he meant the games that were just greenlit, not Faerie Solitaire, Knytt Underground, Really Big Sky and NightSky.

Oh well

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep of course I meant the games, that were greenlit, but not yet released (like Pitri and Oddplanet). I thought Humble Bundle will add keys for these games when they are finally released and you don't have to mail the developer directly?

Which has been a learning experience.
Some sites have promised Steam keys when Greenlit, and I think people are just starting to realise that unless they specifically state this that they are not worth your time or money.

Just in case people don't read clearly, you buy the bundle for one dollar. This section is for extra payment, not to buy the bundle. Clicking the $1 button will make your purchase $2 instead. Seems very backwards and a little bit suspect given how every other bundle operates.

Not really. It clearly breaks it down on the next page so even if you click $1 the first time, you'd have to be an idiot not to realize it's actually $2 before you actually go to pay.

And then when you get to the payment screen, there's yet another opportunity to notice the actual price you're paying. Seriously, anyone who is spending money on something should know to look at the order total before submitting payment data. Let Darwinism play out; that's not on the company.

Being a nice dickface doesnt make the site any less of a dickface :P

You know as well as I do how people make mistakes buying Humble Bundle and Indie Royale bundles for hundreds of dollars. People make mistakes all the time, and this is taking advantage to ensure that people make even more mistakes. Once again, they are following all other bundle conventions for the main payment screen and only diverging in the actual payment. They are trying to take advantage of people, regardless if the people deserve it or not.

For people who are a bit wary about the site and it's lack of professionalism i went to look into the bundle and the people behind it for a bit and it's look ok to me.
Atleast i got all my keys when i bought my bundle and they all worked fine.
Some information though for those wo want to know.

The people behind BundleBandits are 'real life' friends of the developer (Ben Aprigliano) of Paradigm Shift who had his game featured in a Groupees bundle before and has a few games on the Apple App Store as well.
One of the people behind BundleBandits is called Daisy Cardinaal who also works as assistant at a company called Bioventus. (not game related in any way)
They all reside in Utrecht, Holland.

Permalink

WOT is user reviews. Often red sites are red because competitors or randoms claim the site's bad without it actually being bad. I have used WOT for a while, and I recommend you take the ratings with a grain of salt. Check the actual user comments section if the site's red. Even if there are some bad reviews, more times than not I've found that the site is fine.

Talked to the publisher of Puddle and got this:

*We pulled Puddle out of the Bundle simply because we did not authorized it.

We have a partner, Plug In Digital, in charge of distributing some of our games on small digital market places but he has no right to make promotions or go on bundle website (in the end, it is a big promotion) without our agreement.

As we are already speaking directly with the bundle websites, it could be a problem for our future bundles.

But bundlebandits is not responsible for this and it’s a bad news for them too.*

Understood. I bought the bundle today, then I realized Puddle was not included anymore. I asked and obtained a refund, though, so I can't really complain.

Puddle is still available as a BTA bonus on Indiegamestand (1.67$ right now) and they still provide Steam keys, but I don't know whether the issue described above applies to IGS as well.

Comment has been collapsed.

Wait, where did you read about the future keys? As far as I know, it's already on desura, but from IGS it doesn't seem you'll get a key, just the drm-free version... And that's the only reason why I didn't get both games yet :(
Do you have any source about the keys?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It doesn't have anything now, but when (if) they are released on other platforms, you'll guaranteed get a code.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself well. The reason I was asking is because it already is released and is being sold on Desura, it was bundled in a previous Indie Royale too, but from what I can see from the IndieGameStand page there is no Desura logo as usual, only the DRM-free one, so I assumed I wouldn't get a Desura key. And I assumed the same for Steam and Greenlight, besides the fact that it isn't even on Greenlight as of now.
So... Yeah, I would be interested in the game, if only I was sure to get at least the Desura key. But I couldn't find this info anywhere, someone asked it on the IGS forum too but didn't receive a reply. :(

Well I ended up not buying it, also because I noticed the publisher of both games, Plug-In Digital, is apparently the same that is trying not to give steam keys for Finding Teddy from BeMine X after they were "specifically promised" too, so I didn't want to take my chances with them again.
Thanks anyway for the reply! :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Tl;dr: I was talking specifically about this post

..but as you can see, the discussion has gone on for a while, and apparently it might all be a misunderstanding, or so the developer wants us to see it.
I'm usually not the kind of person to jump to conclusions if I don't see my key delivered half an hour after a greenlit game has been released. But in this case the only thing I know is that it's taking them almost 2 weeks (game was released the 3rd of december) to deliver them, and previously they posted some confusing messages wether we would be able to get them and/or keep the game on desura too, so people have started to worry.
Meanwhile, other developers (namely the ones from Tales of Maj'Eyal and Zigfrak) have proved once more that it IS possible to deliver keys easily and quickly, just few hours after the release of their game, so I personally find kind of hard to understand when other publishers for weeks keep saying they are "looking into the possibility" or "trying to figure out the correct procedure" to give keys. And lately the number of those who give such replies is increasing exponentially.
In this specific case, after reading some of their new replies, I want to hope they never considered the possibility of NOT giving keys, and they just expressed themselves in a very bad way.

P.S.: Sorry for the wall of text. :P That was kind of a hot topic for me, I was really looking forward to own that game on steam..

Quick (and last) update on the matter: keys are available on the bundle page, and apparently Groupees intervened to state that Plug-In Digital "never changed their minds about giving keys".
I guess it really was just miscommunication and incapacity to handle the whole process in a quick and painless way, after all.

I remember there being one back when the first one came out, but it was more about wether or not the publishers/devs of the games in the bundle were aware of their games being in it, that was kind of disregarded after many of them came out and said they had given it the O.K. in one form or another.

Surprisingly I don't think I ever really saw any coverage about the developers and publishers not getting any money from them ever, I would like to see an article about it if someone knows of one.

The lack of media exposure about it always blew my mind.

That's hardly the first time their account got suspended. I tweeted them a couple times asking for clarifications and never got a reply, especially about the whole Puddle mess (which, eventually, was NOT pulled from IGS)

Unless they make significant improvements and prove these are just teething problems, I'm done with them.
