Question about Steam Market and Verification

I recently added 5 dollars and verified the new funds so i could use market. Does it get removed from the card after you verify it, or does it eventually remove itself?

I'm pretty sure that if you add funds from a card, it's instantly removed. I tried this with a giftcard, as soon as I added the funds the money was gone off the card.
