The list of games in the OP, along with Surgeon Simulator 2013 from the first edit, are no longer possible to connect. Which is a damn shame, since I had almost all of them, and only one of the new batch.

there were even more games. I got 8 games synchronized out of the approx. 20 games (if not a bunch more).

Well GD. Also, I'm about to decide how to deal with the Institute, Fallout Dude.

I saw other posts on their own thread with the same situation. I think the idea is great and could lead to more users engaging with the Galaxy platform... but so few people seem to be aware of the Connect service. It also seems to be hindered by overloaded services. Alas, first world problems.

I tried to get Two Worlds. When I clicked on connect it was shown at the bottom that this game is available. But it said "no eligible game found". After refreshing the site, they changed the games. So I guess I was a few seconds too slow xD

I was just looking through my GOG library a moment ago and noticed that while I own the Surgeon Simulator Anniversary Edition on Steam, on GOG after connecting I only have the base game. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, as it's still marvellous to have the game added gratis, but it does make me wonder if DLC owned on eligible Steam games will carry over to GOG in the future.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just guessing but it might be the same issue with Steam API not reporting DLC properly that leads to DLC being so annoying here on SG.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a limitation of Steam's API. There's no way to get Steam to list the DLC you own. It's the same reason you can enter giveaways here on steamgifts.com for DLC that you already have.

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

By the way is it possible to use the Connect feature (to scan my Steam Libary for new availabe games) from the Galaxy Client ? If not they really should add that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't even find how to get to the Connect page from gog's web homepage. I ended up having to google it.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think both times I tried I used the link from this thread :D

They have no offers on at the moment, so it makes sense that they removed the link.

I was trying to check if they had any new ones up. The only reason I knew about the first ones was from this thread, so I assumed you had to routinely check for them yourself.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's very true. You do need to check every few days to avoid missing something.

Didn't even know about this until I read this post. I at least had Shadowrun Returns that should have worked, but it looks like there's a time limit and i missed the intro period. So do I not get to add anything now? If that's the case then the whole thing is kind of gonna alienate me from GOG rather than "jumpstart my library" and make me think about buying more things there.
Comment has been collapsed.
^^ Pretty much this.
There's an old saying: you snooze, you lose.
I know it sucks if someone misses the boat but it can't wait forever (as per the reason you pointed out). If it were a permanent offer or lasted too long there would be no incentive for anyone to buy these games from GOG, which is obviously not good long-term for business.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm... summer sale already over and they still didn't add any new game yet?
Comment has been collapsed.
Keep in mind that they have to find developers willing to give away their games for free since I doubt GOG is paying them out of their own pocket.
Comment has been collapsed.
When there was an active batch, the games you could get a free copy for were listed under "Available games". Since there is no such batch at the moment, this list is now empty and therefore you (and everyone else) won't have any eligible games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Good point. It wouldn't be the first experimental feature they just let to be forgotten though without much explanation.
I'd like if it was 1-3 titles a month too. Something to keep many people coming back. But I fear they think it'd be like some Origin accounts, where the library consists of On the House titles mostly. But unlike EA, they cannot just give away games without loss (well, apart from the Witchers).

The reclaim feature was never about getting DRM-free copies of DRM-encumbered games, it was about getting GOG copies by way of physical game CD keys. Think of it in the same manner as how Steam let you activate certain games on Steam with product keys instead of with Steam keys.
Well, that's how I understood it, and taking a fresh look at it, that's certainly how the functionality seems to currently apply.

Gotcha. When it was brought to my attention, it was in a way that emphasized the "There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. " bit, and I recalled it being part of their 'you shouldn't have to pay twice for a game' push. I likely misremembered based off that part of it.
Either way, your point stands that they do tend to try new approaches in such matters pretty often. And "This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future" definitely emphasizes the heart of your point rather well. :P

There were a notable amount of early bugs/issues, according to the e-mail reply I got from them when I reported my own bugs. They said they'd take their time moving forward to make sure those issues were addressed before putting strong efforts into it again- that reddit post seems to echo those comments rather closely.
Given that, it's really hard to say if they're finding it more effort than they'd expected, or if they're putting strong efforts into shoring things up before they dive back in fully.
Flip side, perhaps it'll be like Origin's On the House, and be a rarely updated affair that lasts over an indefinite duration.
As you say, there's really no point in speculating about it until there's more to work with. :P

It doesn't work because it was a timed event that's now expired.
If you have any of the first two Witcher games, you can still reclaim their DRM-free version at https://www.gog.com/reclaim

That link is for a few other titles. For the Witcher 1 & 2 you have to go here:

Yep, click on the game in your library. Then on the right side you have the options to open the shop site, go to the discussions and there should also be a link to get your product key :)

Bleh, they finally get a couple of games and I don't have them.

I can't find a way right now either. When the list of games was bigger, there was definitely a link pointing to it on the home page and then it got removed. Now, I just start typing "connect" in the address bar and my browser's history does the rest.

Why not enter the URL yourself? https://www.gog.com/connect

I have Dex & Anno 1404 Gold but for some reason GOG doesn't detect them for me. Maybe a syncing issue, I think they are my 2 most recent games in the list, but I don't see how to sync.

Thanks for the heads up.
I just went over there and out of the 17 games they added, it's only letting me add 5 of my 11 eligible titles (it says it couldn't find the other 6 games in my Steam library). Strange. Anyone else having this problem?

Nice, thanks for the heads up. 6 new games where added to my library:
More games were eligible, but I don't own them:

Make sure to check Baldur's Gate in your library, you can also redeem the original version from there

Refresh as in F5 or there is another option to do that ? I have the same issue with Dex & Anno 1404
Comment has been collapsed.
Refreshing a few times worked for me as well after several attempts for my remaining titles but not for Anno 1404.
I'm guessing it's because I have the Dawn of Discovery version of that game which was sold with a different Steam App ID for certain regions. Too bad but what can you do.

Van Helsing wasn't detected for me at first, but after pressing the green "Refresh" button on the Connect page some time later, it detected it too. GOG fixed some of the issues, try now and wait a little, even if it doesn't show it right away.

Oh, I hadn't added the other games yet so I didn't have that button. I got the missing games now, thanks.

Damn, I connected now with the new batch. Didnt really care/read so much before. Didnt know it was limited-time. Could have connected some more games :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Now I NEED to get Baldars Gate Enhanced on the next steam sale.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the incentive is that if you don't own these games on Steam, you may want to consider buying them right now, so that you can also claim a DRM-free copy on GOG.

I have BG:EE on Steam (actually just started playing it yesterday again, for the first time after 18 years) but the connect will not sync this. anyone knows why? got it as a Steam gift a couple of months ago.
edit: Van Helsing Final Cut won't sync either
edit2: nevermind got them after refreshing abunch of times

Have only the message that i should wait on the line. Have tried 3 browser and different times ( all programs are up to date). Allways the same message...

This is huge news:
Introducing GOG Connect
GOG Connect
Important: You can connect only one Steam account with your GOG.com library. This process is permanent – choose wisely!
Important 2: If you own some of the games and Connect doesn't recognize them, press the Refresh button and wait a while (can be a few minutes, hours or even a day). The reason for this is that GOG is using the Steam API to scan your Steam library and the API has a limit on the number of calls it can make for a given period of time. If you're still having problems, refresh your GOG account (simply clicking the link is enough; this is different that the Refresh button on the GOG Connect page!).
Important 3: In case you are still getting the message "Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." after waiting a while and trying the account refresh link above, then it would be a good idea to contact GOG support. Many users have reported that their problem was fixed quickly after that.
I really hope more games are made available, because this could raise GOG's popularity significantly!
Edit on 29-April-2020:
Thanks to BrianFarnet: The GOG Connect Steam group is a useful way to get notified about future batches in your activity feed.
