Are you going to be a real shadow Ninja? Aragami is now included in the VIP subscription
Hi There,
Yes, we have bought the Desura assets from the bankruptet company Bad Juju.
We will be relaunching the Desura websites on a new platform early next year. Follow our news section for updates :
http://www.oneplay.com/en/news/details/244_Desura_is_now_a_part_of_the_OnePlay_family_
We are going to improve the App continously so it is a work in progress.
$100/yr is less than $10/mo so I dont quite follow your arguement:-)
But we understand that $10/mo is the current level of any subscription service which is why we normally provide a $20 discount if you choose to buy the entire year upfront..
Thanks for your input.
Comment has been collapsed.
The $1 offer is limited time only to get our userbase up and be able to really stress the system core code.
This will help us improve the platform and give an even better experience in the future.
Until monday novembet 28'th are you getting 12 months access for only 1$.
After that it will be back to a regular price point which is around $10/mo or $100/yr.
Did that answer your question?

This is a gaming subscription service. Comparing it to GOG or Steam doesn't make sense. It's more similar to GameFly or Gamerang, but digital, or Netflix, but for games.
Also, $100/year is $8.33/month, which is cheaper than $10/month. For comparison, it's much cheaper than GameFly or Gamerang ($16/month) and slightly more expensive than Netflix ($8 per month).

I'm pretty sure steam is a subscription based service and you don't actually own any of the games.
In Steams subscriber agreement it first explains that Games are considered as Content and Services:
"The Steam client software and any other software, content, and updates you download or access via Steam, including but not limited to Valve or third-party video games and in-game content, and any virtual items you trade, sell or purchase in a Steam Subscription Marketplace are referred to in this Agreement as “Content and Services”
It then goes on to state that you don't own said content.
The Content and Services are licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Content and Services.
It's my understanding that if Steam were to ever shut down whatever games you don't already have downloaded are basically lost.
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam's user agreement defines it as a subscription service, but in reality, it's obviously not. Valve's lawyers use the words "subscriber" and "subscription" to give themselves as much defensive legal power as possible. By claiming that it's a subscription that doesn't cost anything and saying that they can "terminate your subscription" rather than "ban you and take away all of the games that you paid for" it's a lot harder to sue them. This means that the games and software that you buy are basically DLC for Steam.
On the other hand, I'm fairly certain that Valve would get sued into oblivion if they suddenly shut down Steam without giving anyone options to keep their games by other means. The legal claim that Steam is a subscription service mostly protects them from retaliation from banned users.
So it would only be fair to compare Steam and OnePlay VIP in terms having your account banned, not in terms of normal use.

They painted the Desura monster green...interdasting.

I'm not the target audience for your service anyway since I prefer to own my games but 10$ per month seems awfully expensive if I compare it to things like PSN or XBox Live Gold which both roughly cost 6€/month, offer more decent games (which you can also keep afterwards with XBox) and the main selling point is the ability to play online anyway. Not sure what that Origin subscribtion service costs but you should also consider that they have an entire different calibre of games there.
Edit: But Aragami is a really cool game from what I've been told from my buddies. If you get more games like that or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter the service might be worth it's asking price one day.

Many thanks for your very valuable feedback.
The main reason most gaming subscription services is around $10/mo is actually because the publishers demands this to add their content. We are fully aware of the issues with having mostly back catalogue content and trying to get a premium subscription price.
But right now our main focus is to get the indie developers on board as they are more interested in supplying their content through a subscription service.
We try to add minimum 15 - 30 games to the service every month.

Well considering when GOG opened up no other publisher beside the founder CD Project would sell AAA games DRM free and now they have quite a few newer and higher quality games I assume publishers will be more open to the idea of offering their games as suscription services when the business model becomes more common.

Thats exactly what we are hoping. And with the current interest from the community its not long before it will begin changeing.

...things like PSN or XBox Live Gold which both roughly cost 6€/month, offer more decent games (which you can also keep afterwards with XBox)
Just to let you know, you can't keep games from Xbox Gold or PS Plus. If you stop paying the subscription you lose access to the games. You can disconnect the internet on the day of your subscription canceling and then you get an extra week to play them, as after 7 days the Xbox One will require you to reconnect online to verify/refresh at which point it will invalidate any games from Xbox Gold since your sub is over. Same goes for PS Plus except you don't get the extra week, they stop working immediately.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think on XBox 360 you get to keep them but I'm not completly sure. I have to try with Dishonored or some other game I got for free the next time I have it set up.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah IIRC the Xbox 360 you can keep anything you download because they never introduced any methods to retroactively affect anything you've downloaded. There's no infrastructure on the 360 to help them enforce the policy they're using on new consoles. Along with that, I don't know anyone that plays(or has one plugged in) Xbox 360 anymore; all upgraded to Xbox Ones or PS4s.
P.S. I never liked the aesthetics of the 360's "blade" interface but it was surely functional [ease-of-use] in comparison to the current modern interfaces.
Comment has been collapsed.
Damn... I thought that was intentional and deleted some Gold games because my HD was getting full... I think I wrote most of them down because there was no Libary function and most I probably wouldn't have played anyway but I'm a little sad I deleted Alan Wake... hope I didn't delete any other good games without writing it down.
So did I but I still have quite a few great, unplayed games on 360 and some where I already was pretty far.
Comment has been collapsed.
I just plugged in my Xbox360 yesterday and re downloaded some of the "Games with gold Games" that I had previously downloaded. I haven't had a live subscription in years but it still knows I "own" them.
If you sign in to xbox.com there is a "My Games" tab that tells you everything you own.

Thanks for your comment. We hope you will enjoy the Lego games and try some other ones as well:-)

I can't buy it because the website goes blank when I try to check out, a support member told me to disable my iPv4 protocol, but that just killed my internet connection,
Hopefully you can find a solution before the sale ends.
There are some nice RPGs like Evoland 2 in there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi There, you should not disable IPv4 only the IPv6 protocol.
That should do the trick:-)
Comment has been collapsed.
That worked, now it's waiting for validation or something.
Anyhow, that's not something users should have to do, it also made me allow some paypal intermediary be able to charge my card through paypal without logging into my paypal account, which I'm not a fan of.
Comment has been collapsed.
Great, we are working on a update so we dont use our payment processor for the paypal transactions in the future.
Thanks again for your feedback.

This didn't work for me but managed to buy from my phone but i have 2 of them pending now not sure how that happened

Hi There,
We are working on an entirely new platform for the Desura websites and in the process are we mergeing all old accounts from Desura's system.
The DB's of OnePlay and Desura is not merged and will probably not be until later into 2017.
Thanks.

We have been trying to get the ban lifted in Italy on oneplay.com as it is related to the old domain owner. But we havent heard back from the authorities.
Comment has been collapsed.
Perhaps buy an alternative domain for Italian users? i.e. oneplay.it
Or you can tell them to visit the IP of the webserver directly in the meantime.
Comment has been collapsed.
Its a very good idea we will get that up and running asap.

Se utilizzi ad esempio quelli di google (basta inserire anche il solo server primario 8.8.8.8) non avrai piu' problemi con la stupida censura...

activation is kind of tricky, one you pay, you have to go into your acct and get the activation key, then click subscriptions, then input code into discount box and apply (should say 100% discount after applying), then click 12 month sub down below and click next or buy whatever and then on next page click a payment, which it wont charge since its 100% discount and then click buy or next i forget, and then it finally activated your 12 month sub
Comment has been collapsed.
Under game library on that list it should show 12 month subscription, and your code will be under license key, you need to click show or claim button or something there before it shows the code. That is the code you will enter into discount box I mentioned in first reply.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah the activation was tricky , but support (i think it was Olivia)help me with that :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, snap, I just bought the 1 year sub yesterday (it was on sale too, but "only" 95% off, so I payed 4.5$ instead of today's 1$). Now I feel dumb :P
But the service is great otherwise. There's a lot of junk in the catalogue, so discovering actually good games is like finding needles in a huge haystack, but yes, there's the LEGO games, a lot of good shmups (Steredenn, Raiden series etc.), Stalker games, Red Faction games, so there's still a lot of entertainment there. I finally get around trying out some then-popular games I have missed when they were new. The user experience could be a lot better (you basically have to press Download on 3 different screens to actually install the game, for example), but download speeds are OK, and the games are working as they should.
So yeah, it's even worth for 4.5$ a year, but I'm still annoyed by today's better deal :D I'm not sure if I will keep my sub next year, though. We'll see how the pricing and the cataloge will look like then...
Comment has been collapsed.
They seriously should fix their website and their launcher.
Comment has been collapsed.
So I was checking out your service because I found your offer very tempting and searched for some wishlisted games of mine. I even found some, but except for one they were only available for purchase, not for rent. Does that mean, even as a VIP member I would have to buy them?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi There,
All games available in the subscription package has a green "download" button instead of a red "buy" button.
If you download the app will you be able to search the VIP games library without any sales titles.
Comment has been collapsed.
All of them are less than 6 months (aside from Sherlock, less than 1 month old), and haven't seen discounts of over 20% as far as I can tell.
I don't think those were really realistic expectations.
I'd expect older or cheaper games in a service like this, like what happens with PS Plus and Games with Gold.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can tell you that Candle and Through the woods is coming in 2017:-)
Deal has already been signed.
Sherlock holmes is still an active negotiation.

Hello again,
I just signed up for the trial and everything went alright. When checking my email account though I got two messages from Paypal, one of them telling me
You submitted an order in the amount of 0.94 EUR to OnePlay ApS
and the other one telling me
You submitted an order in the amount of 1,00 EUR to OnePlay ApS
On the site I've seen the price for this subscription was 0.94 EUR. How did it happen I was charged an extra EURO? Please clear this up and give me my EURO back, thank you.
Comment has been collapsed.
Also I just tried to test my new subscription and upon trying to download Aragami the site tells me:
Rental directly to your PC/Mobile
you rental plan is inactive!
if you want to start renting games please add a credit card.
you can always buy games in our gameshop.
you are able to buy games. want to rent games? upgrade to a vip plan.
Excuse me, didn't I just pay for a VIP subscription that should give me all the access I need? So far very unsatisfied with what I'm experiencing :(
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok here is the answers to your questions.
Paypal do automatically auhtorize the account by checking for 1 EURO. It wont be charged so you should only see one charge.
The code you bought for the subscription needs to be activated on your account. You can find the code in your game library and the activation description on the product page.
Hope that helps:-)

SOLD! 1 year for one dollar. you got me.
but i cant see myself staying subscribed after the year is up because 100$ a year is too much considering i personally have more than enough games on steam and my backlog is only growing on all bases now that i added a couple games to origin and uplay as well :x
and thats not mentioning how little my free time is compared to back when i was in MS/HS school
but like i said 1$ is a steal and im proud to announce that ive successfully robbed you :}
Comment has been collapsed.
alright so i canceled my subscription thinking it would just cancel the next billing date because i depise autopayments, a year is a long time so i wanted to disable being charged a year from now for this service since who knows if by then i just completely forget about it, and instead i think it completely ended the whole VIP access
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah this was discussed in a prior thread here, and only way around it i think is to pay via paypal, then login to paypal and go to managed/automated payments and cancel the auto-renew on paypal side or use a prepaid card or something that you know wont have funds on it in a year when its time to renew
Comment has been collapsed.
thanks ill do that when i get it reactivated!
i forget technology is so advanced and paypal has more features than just using it to pay easily :0

Why this site (Oneplay.com) don´t have HTTPS / SSL?
Comment has been collapsed.
How do you know it was bots and not just someone who didn't say thanks?
Comment has been collapsed.
its most likely to be bots when keys are not obfuscated.
As they are used faster, often within 3 seconds.
I don't have a rigorous study on it if that is what you're looking for, it's what seems the most likely conclusion after spending time in the key drop areas of the forum and steam.

Why are home address and phone number required for checkout?

Data collection. You know they collect/sell your data like almost every other business.

Hi There,
Thanks for your question.
All game saves a local so you wont be able to access it on any other devices.
We are working on a better system so we can support this in the future.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, on steam it is a perpetual licence. You still not own the product :P
Anyway, I join you when you renting games when you have more and better games in your own library is hardly attractive...
Comment has been collapsed.
You do own the product when you pay the actual publisher/developer and get a Steam key as a method to retrieve the game -- you still own the game but Steam is helping you acquire it; if Steam disappeared the publisher/developer would still be required to provide you a method to acquire the game.
That's one reason why I rarely purchase from the Steam Store itself unless I have to.

What's the difference between games that say "Buy" and games that say "Order"? Really confusing. There are Origin games, requiring the Origin launcher and an Origin account to be played (like the Command & Conquer collection), and Uplay games, requiring Uplay launcher and account (like Far Cry 3) that say "Buy" but then StarCraft II, which requires the Blizzard launcher and account, says "Order"?
I'm presuming the difference is games you can "rent" and games you can't. If that's the case, you need to revise the wording to not be so deceitful/shady. As well, either way, if that's the case you're renting access to games that require a launcher, connection and user account to another gaming platform. How does one rent a game when you connect it to your account which means you've 'bought' it?
P.S. No one on Earth currently 'rents' digital goods except the elderly and the retarded. Just some advice that you guys update the terminology and keep it straight.
With the exclusive OnePlay.com VIP subscription plan, you gain access to our extensive library of rental games for PC and Android.
It's called a subscription service, you've even said it. It's not 'renting' anything. And the games aren't called "rental games" -- they're just called games, and you get to play them while you're subscribed.
Comment has been collapsed.
So you're saying if/when StarCraft II keys are restocked it will also say "Buy"?
Then what denotes what games are "rentals" and what games you have to actually buy?
This is why this site will fail -- too much ambiguity.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, check any other out of stock game (not a Blizzard one).
When you can rent a game it says "download" in green, but you have to be a subscriber. Example: http://www.oneplay.com/en/download/details/13202_Stasis__PC_

Ahh... From the looks of their practices they'll fail, and fail at reviving Desura too. Damn, I was having some hope for this site too. :\
Thanks for helping clear some stuff up for me though :D

Hi There,
Thanks for all your comments
We relaunching Desura on a completely new platform which wont have any rental service on it:-)
OnePlay will be rental only in the future so there wont be any confusion.
But today when you are an active subscriber are all rental games shown in the "VIP Games" section which is only available within the App's.
So if you give us some time before judging it should be worth for everyone ;-)
Comment has been collapsed.
There's not much in the catalogue I don't already own, but can't go too wrong for $1, and given its run so far I think anyone buying Desura needs every dollar they can get. :D Still, optimistic that it's going to go better this time.
Bit disappointed with the client installer's lack of any option to choose an install location.
