Can your phone run pokemongo?
I played it for about a week or two and then I got tired of the constant crashes so I uninstalled it and never tried again. Also it got boring way too fast.
Instead I installed a GBA emulator in my phone and I've been playing Emerald edition.

Tried it for a little time when it first came out, but it's pretty shit.
There's absolutely no content or any decent systems in place to make it worthwhile right now.
You just toss balls at Pokemon, hope the RNG is merciful and move on.
You keep the one with the highest CP and then have those silly tap battles for the gyms.
That's about it. Why bother.

I still play it when I'm going somewhere, but sadly it's a bad excuse for a game. Riddled with design flaws and terrible coding issues. I tried to like it, but I can't because it's just that bad. The only thing that brought the people to it was the Pokemon brand, but it's not enough to keep them at it.

You do realize that even after the initial drop-off (which is still a higher retention rate than anything similar), it's still the most successful/popular mobile game ever, right?

As I said, the Pokemon brand works wonders. And the game itself will have a few more bright moments, that is when they introduce new generations of Pokemon. It will have attention spikes again then.
Still, this doesn't change facts. It is a bad game. It could have been a decent one, but I think Niantic was just too inexperienced (and small) to pull it off. Of course, they got shitload of money, so it's a great success for them. Not so much success for the players though.
Out of 30-40 people that I know that played the game, there's less than 5 left that still play it, including me. And for the same reasons:
and I could probably add a few more points. It feels more like an Early Access than the real deal. But hey, I think that's the standard nowadays, right?

As with the Pokemon games and series, the focus is always on the journey and not the destination. As a player approaching "end-game" status, I've been careful to enjoy my time and avoid mindless grinding. It is very much a social game and your community is a critical component to your overall enjoyment.
Player PvP hasn't been implemented yet. I understand some people's complaints about the gym battling system, however you have to consider a couple of things. This is a mobile game, protracted turn-based battles are not necessarily appealing to the casual player. As for balance, I think it makes plenty of sense to have it so heavily weighted toward the attacker. Otherwise, gyms would stagnate and lower level players would be discouraged. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done differently, I'm just not sure what the perfect happy medium is between casual/hardcore.
Location is by far the biggest hurdle in a GPS based game. I agree that the rural/urban disparity is too large and requires a different assessment. On the upside, folks in smaller communities generally don't have to compete with the heavy-hitters in big cities (albeit, that's not an excuse).
The number of bugs has been drastically reduced. In fact, it's still quite surprising how quickly the servers were stabilized given just how unexpected the success was (PoGo was clearly an afterthought from the beginning).
Niantic definitely needs more competent QA testing.
While a tracker is currently being developed, if you look behind the scenes at why the original tracker failed it makes a lot of sense. It also explains how the original tracker is no longer feasible for the game anymore. (TL;DR it relates to google account access and how the original app handled it differently in a way no longer possible)
Ban waves have done a lot to curb the (arguable small) hacker community. But honestly, this is something one always must contend with in any multiplayer game. Overall, most players are not affected by these negative elements.
Most importantly, these comments are not me explaining to you why "the game is good and you just don't understand it." If you don't like the game, that is completely fine. It is your experience and I cannot dictate what is "fun" for you. We all have different tastes, and I'm sure my taste is total shit to some people. I am simply explaining my view as a relatively happy player.
There's a lot of room for improvement, and I think a lot of people like me are very stoked at the possibilities for the game. If a year from now the game has hardly progressed, I will likely have jumped ship as well. As for now, I'm pretty excited at the concept overall and I can't believe a game actually inspires me to go outside. Ideally, I think in a year or two another AR-GPS game will come along that does "everything right," now that we've been exposed to the possibilities on a global scale.

All the time, or just when you are doing gym stuff? The latest update introduced a memory leak during gym battles, so you have to restart often. Should be fixed next patch.

I have to restart the app a lot too. Sometimes Pokestops just wont appear or it will indefinitely load.

I still play it every day on my way to school (I'm not the one driving so it's legal). I don't go out specifically to catch Pokemon, I only play when I'm going somewhere.

I still have it installed, but stopped after the update that pretty much broke the game. The update that made you have to throw 10 pokeballs at a level 10 pidgey before you can catch it, and even then it'll probably flee. I'm not about that life.

tried to install but seems like my shitty phone doesn't like it. not that i care anyway :v

I mostly set up my Pokemon GO goal as level 30. Since I just reached that 4 days ago, I like to think that I've quit... By "quit" I mean "hopefully I can keep myself from going out to capture gyms every single night"... And I still hold my phone when going anywhere and "interact" with everything along the way... so I guess I'm pretty terrible at quitting. XD

I'm still playing. They just added a bunch of nests in a recent update so the park in-front of my house has a bunch Jigglypuff now. It's fun to organize a day trip with friends to go to areas that have a lot of Pokestops and spawns. We don't really do it anymore, as the hype did go down, but there's still a bunch of us willing to go out and play if someone organizes it :P.
I still try to go out and play when I have time.

Been playing since launch. I never purposely go outside an walk or go to nests to capture specific species, but I do keep it on when I'm travelling to-and-fro work (my workplace is walking distance, I walk to work and back home everyday).
Also, there are 3 very close gyms near my office, and I battle them and collect 30 coins everyday.
Singapore is a good place for players. But I do see the decline in lure modules everywhere now.

I installed it, sat around for a while, then uninstalled it.

They made the game wrong. A phone has more power than the original GB could ever dream of, and that's how they bring the franchise onto mobile? What a joke, the battling system isn't even in it! RPG turn based battle systems have been around for DECADES! How do you even screw that up?

Well, I simply disagree completely. Lowering the quality of the game to appeal to "casual markets" isn't an excuse for blatant laziness. You realize Pokemon was a GAME BOY game marketed to TEN YEAR OLDS originally, right? Pokemon Go is less interactive than the minigames in loading screens of flash games! Seriously, if you can't outdo a handheld device for children released in 1990 with your ultra-modern smart phone targeted to teens and adults, you have FAILED at making a spin off! Pokemon themed SOLITAIRE would've taken more work to program. Yes, they crammed some GPS crap into the game, big deal. You know how many games have done great without adding to the list of things constantly tracking your location? ALMOST EVERY GAME EVER. You know how many games have succeeded with lazy, shallow gameplay? Mostly just mobile games! The only reason people played Pokemon Go and defended it at all was because of two words. Brand. Recognition.

Sure, I'm almost level 30 and walked more than 400km since I'm playing the game, this game is a great excuse for a long walk but I've realized most people who are playing the game are just sitting somewhere near a lure or using a car, that's so sad.

I am curious as it has been around three months since launch (two where I live), and there weren't exactly game changing updates that would keep regular users playing. I still have it open when I go outside but I don't check up on it other than to keep the screen on, and I stopped going outside specifically to catch rare pokemons or hatch eggs.
