So I was participating in this event, you know, Secret Santa. With Steam games. On Official Unofficial SteamGifts Discord server (by the way, you may join if you like).
And suddenly one of my keys wasn't working for my giftee - it was Balatro, and it was intended to go to 86maylin, but it appears that despite this key have ROW in the name - it's still not available in 76 countries. What a shame. So they approved me of sharing the key here.
I wanted to say thank you for all the community here, for you great people who make this such a wholesome place, and wish you a very great year ahead.
I love you all ❤️
And yes, almost forgot - here's the link to the giveaway. Sorry for those who cannot enter due to regional restrictions - it's not me, it's developers.

Will you celebrate this New Year?

View Results
Sure, will go out and party like a criminal
Of course, I will celebrate with the family, it's usually a family dinner
I will just drink alone, woohoo to the window and go to sleep
I don't celebrate New Years. What's that? Just a day in a calendar?
Not going to tell

I don't really celebrate it, we will just watch some TV or whatever to keep the evening going and keep the pets from hearing most of the fireworks outside, eat some light stuff and also oliebollen, it's a tradition to eat that at New Year, it's also only sold in December, outside of that it's waiting for the firework to stop so I can go to bed ^^

only sold in December

Well, maybe somewhere else in the country but here they are not sold in October yet, at first they were only there for a few weeks and had to be gone in January, now since a few years they are also there the first week of January, so they get to stay longer, also never saw them on a fair, I did see waffles and churros but never oliebollen.

Anyway, not sure why you are posting that though, feels a bit like a 'you are wrong bad lying person!' kind of attack because it's the only thing you say with no extra explanation but whatever, you do you. Am just saying how it's where I live, simple...

It's not meant as a personal attack, not sure why you'd think that. It's just some plain information for everyone else reading (those that have bothered to translate what I wrote anyway). You wrote it in such a way that it might be misinterpreted as if it was factual for the entire country, and not just your local area. People can come over and enjoy those Oliebollen year round if they so please.

I usually have the whole week to spend with my family, but it seems they are not coming this year so it will probably be just me and my games. At least i have more time tackle them since i got so many games this christmas :)
Oh, and happy new year!

I would be too worried of drama from certain people for discord but the idea is quite nice. I have enough to keep me busy anyway. Happy new year
I will be at home playing video games, that's about all my life amounts to anymore it seems.

We won't celebrate much. Just watch an even more traditional selection of movies than even during Christmas, play some games and watch the ZDF Kultnacht in the aftermath.

Yeah, I'll celebrate it in a way. Nothing special at home (just a modest holiday dinner with my mom), also, looks like I'll be working on December 31st (fuck deadlines!). On the other hand, I have some fun stuff planned with my niece before and after NY, and it's been ages since we last had some quality time together.

We don't, but I'm a freelancer, so kinda supposed to make my own schedule. Anyway, that pesky deadline was moved 2 weeks forward, so I'm already relaxing, and that project will wait for a bit :)

For several years now we started a small tradition, we have a fondue and raclette. My kids like to be able to cook their own stuff and it's delicious.

Cheesy but great ;)
I won't be working for once but I won't feel much like cooking at home so it'll be raclette for me too. Or tartiflette if I feel like cooking a little bit. With some morels because why not??
And lots of wine.

Also kids who like to cook their own food? Where did you get them? I want some just like that :D

A bunch of countries have issues with games like balatro because it uses classic cards and the framing a classic cardgame involved with gambling, cassino themes etc. Lawamakers and game censoring bodies clueless and not caring enougth... truth be told most involved can get thats not the case but theres no reason to fight withe the clueless for it. Someone wants to ban all videogames with poker its much easier to let then- heck that could even be one small 'win' to give the opposition in trade of something else. Not enougth public interest or votes in the line defending then, while theres some chance of losing votes to older clueless voters 'think of the children!' just because of the poker theme...

And of course theres no big money lobbying for it, unlike actual gambling lootboxes.

Ive seen news of at least one country directly banning Balatro and my bet the dev or publisher thenselves are playing safe with region locks.

I usually 'celebrate' new year but not 'really'. What i mean is i dont share much joy about what may be coming next year. Theres personal mental health issues and a long streak of bad years for me so while theres hope next year will be better record gives no reason for any hype for me. I think the last time i still had some hype was around 6 or 7 years ago.
...and heck since then the world itself gave me extra reasons to be gloomy
I try to be positive, and now im dead set in ignoring all the bs that worries me about the world. I try... its just hard. I still cheer to what have been good at least, and heck that hope i never let go

Thanks for the chance- this Balatro is also locked region for me, but i liked the little extra too

Thank you too Eefrit. You ealize youre part of what makes this such a wholesome place right? The community here warmed me the day i got in but my issues and bad things in life actually made me apreciate even more this community. Through it all SG reminds me of good things and no matter what or who dealt the latest blown to my mood SG is a constant reminder the world is full of great and good people too. So it helps me a lot shoving the bad away and recouping some of my positivity and optimism.

And thats thanks to you too.

Wish you a happy new year!!

First step on any journey away from anxiety, that's for sure. Even though it's hard because misery is shoved in our faces by everyone who profits off of it and that's a lot of people.
I hope your moods lift up, not necessarily because it's the end of a calendar year but because you deserve some blue skies.

I hate leaving pets alone on New Year's, bc imho it's one of the most stressful days for pets. We don't even do fireworks anymore. I mean, there is enough to see anyways xD

Unexpectadly region restricted keys are annoying D:

I never celebrated or liked xmas after I stopped being a kid. I don't like carols, decoration, consumism, massification and other oddities of this time of year. I liked to have the family dinners (and sometimes meals, if I didn't get home too late) while my grandma lived. Once she passed away, "family dinner" stopped having sense to me. Usually I've spent most new year's eve at my friend's place, but I'm angry/disappointed with him this year so I dinner alone in peace, watching a movie.

However I respect people around wishing everyone merry xmas, hannukah, yule or whatever, it's not like it's toxic or anything. And I hope everyone has the best possible time during these holidays.

I still wake up with good vibes whenever I dream of my grandma.
