Was I the only one who never really liked Tiberian Sun? For some reason, it never clicked the same buttons as an RTS that RA or RA2 did. Firestorm was good, but the original TibSun never struck me as replayable for the game, just the story.

I'll add some old news: C&C 1 and Red Alert 1 are also free.

EDIT: The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is free too.
