Blocking every russian guy would take too long. ;)

I've seen similar topics in the past, so you aren't alone. Some people do it because they think adding random people makes their account look more legitimate. I had someone add me a couple of days ago 'just because I want more Steam friends'. Didn't keep that guy obviously.

It happens. You just have to live it with it, ya know? :P

I've never been invited to a random Russian groups ever. Or any random groups at all 0o.
I can live with it though.

I don't get them too frequently nowadays.
Maybe three or four in one month at the most.

They are using scripts to mass invite everyone to their groups. Don't know why they would want to, or why pretty much all of those doing so are Russian. I take the time to report both the group and the user that invited me to it, though I don't know if anything has ever come of it.

It has. Some of them have already been disbanded by Steam support, although definitely not as many as I'd like. The script owners also seem to charge money for the invites, so they probably aim to spam the groups with referrals and other crap.

The last conversation, happend few minutes ago:

Me: Nope, I didn't create any magicka giveaway.
Random guy: a ok blz entao
Me: Sorry I don't understand.

I actually haven't received any in the past few days, but the past 2 weeks I've been receiving 3+ a day.

Before clicking ignore, go to the group profile page, click "Report" and write "Unsolicited mass invites" as the reason. Then click ignore and hope others do the same, so we'll eventually get rid of these groups.

They see your nick and think 'I will scam this guy and he'll smile back'. Deal.

It happens because you are in a public group. I never used to get random invites until I joined Steam's "Summer Camp" group. The thousands of people who are also in that group can now find you easily and write a script to invite everyone into their own group.

Am I the only one who is getting like 3 invites every day for some random, public, russian groups from some random, russian user which has no friend or groups in common with me. Its just annoying and I dont know what I could do against it, than just click on "ignore". Also the last invite i got (like one hour ago) came from this guy here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/u3bpac4ehka and it says that he wasn't online for 18 days now. What is this bull****?
