And managed not to add ANYTHING that made me love Fallout 1 and 2 into New Vegas anyway. That's a double fail from Obsidian. I vote Fallout 3. It may not have had Chris Avellone, but at least it was one of the few 'reimaginings' I actually put more than an hour into. New Vegas was okay too, but what was added/what should have been added ratio is wrong, I feel.

New Vegas was created by Obsidian Entertainment, and included some of the members of the staff from Black Isle Studios. I don't know a lot of the people, but Chris Avellone was a kind of popular staff member, if I remember correctly. Bethesda only published it.
My source? Well, nomutantsallowed (NMA), and the most-popular fan-made wiki.

Sorry you're totally wrong. New Vegas is much better. New Vegas was made from the original crew that also made Half-Life, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Portal and even The Last of Us! I hear that the Fallout New Vegas devs are also releasing Half-Life 3 soon. How can you beat that?
Fallout 3 is a piece of crap. It's made by the same devs of Bad Rats and Horrible Henry or something.

Well Fallout NV is my choice too, great story, lots of quests, better characters and more of a Fallout game, while Fallout 3 has silly story, bad characters, and it's not really a fallout game anymore. But I gotta give 3 that it has better exploring and more "fun" places.

Can you name what did you play as realistic shooter? Arma 2 is based on VBS2 which is sold to NATO armies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VBS2

New Vegas. It's, hands down, the best and superior game. Though, if you have enough money, get both.

They are both great games; I am partial to New Vegas myself though. Fallout 3, for all the options, starts to feel a little linear in the main story line;especially near the end. New Vegas allows for many possible outcomes.

Because it doesn't have such a post apocalyptic atmosphere like FO3 did.

Counter Argument : New Vegas is at least 20 years into the future from FO1, and civilization is regrowing. Prime example : Mr.House's storyline.
Also, New Reno in FO2. FO2 had a great atmospheric feel while also having civilized and non-apocalyptic cities such as Vault City, and New Reno. I don't understand how New Vegas'... New Vegas doesn't equal what New Reno was supposed to be.

I don't understand what the hell you guys are going on about. New Vegas is highly regarded as the 'true' Fallout 3, the replacement to Van Buren. Fallout 3 is only regarded as better by those 10 year old 'fanboys' that jumped on the wagon without knowing there was a FO 1 & 2 and would repeatedly claim that FO3 was the best game of them all.

I would say go for GOTY. The DLCs aren't too cool but the Zeta Ship DLC gives you a cool weapon and a special skill you can master making that weapon overpowered :D I used that blaster gun all the game since that point :)))
If those extra $2.5 aren't a problem for you go for the GOTY edition. You have anything to lose anyway

Well both games are cool.
New Vegas is closer to the old games since it offers a more RPG-stic(hope this is the right...word :D) experience. However, I found NV to lack the post apocalyptic feeling I expect when playing these kind of games.
On the other hand, Fallout 3 has a great feeling and a great impact on the gamer (it's Washington D.C in ruins after all) but it's lighter in terms of RPG. Sure, you have skills and all but it's easier to level up and gain more skills to one point. If you play the DLCs however, you'll find yourself playing with no level up since you can reach the exp cap after 50-60% of the game.
Personally I still haven't finished NV since I kinda have a problem with the feeling in that game but it's cool anyway.
In the end I guess you should play them both in the order they were released F3 and NV after.

Which one should I get? Iv'e been looking around the internet and most people suggest NV is the superior one.
Yet I heard in NV it's mostly deserts, and Fallout 3 has more varying and interesting landscapes and unique characters.
What do you think? Which one would you suggest?
And no, I can't/won't get both.
All right thanks for the help guys. I decided to go with New Vegas since the vast majority seems to think it is the better game. I hope I can trust you on this one. -deathglare-
