Did they change their prices to dollars and euros for people outside Brazil? I still see prices in R$ and they seen to be the same.

question is, if we can see the whole range of games with vpn. did anyone try that yet?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yep u need Brazilian VPN to see whole catalog

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

vpn was necessary anyway for quite a few games. then all that's missing is the region lock info, right?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

if i understand correctly, the store must be browsed with overseas IP and with brazillian IP, look for the 7 differences to get the regional lock info and ... profit! isn't it?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's right, the only thing is missing (and the most important imho) is region lock info. So now on we will need a trial and error system :/

Will steamdb not work for finding out if games are locked?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It might be. I don't really know how steamdb internally works

Well here's a sample page for Saints Row IV - https://steamdb.info/app/206420/subs/

If you scroll down far enough you can find an entry for Brazil: 29296 Saints Row IV (BR) Store or CD Key

I believe that's the version Nuuvem were selling as I just read this - http://forum.nuuvem.com.br/topic/1601-bought-saints-row-iv-im-an-american-and-cant-activate-it-on-steam/

So, unless things have changed in the past few months (I haven't been looking at Steamdb in that time), a lack of a CD key entry for (BR) would mean there is no Brazilian region-lock.

Edit: I know theyt were sell Mordor for example with no locks and there's nothing on Steamdb for that game relating to (BR) - https://steamdb.info/app/241930/subs/

Been looking into it a bit more. It's yes and no on that one. It appears there were changes on Steamdb. :(

Since a certain date package names are no longer viewable on new releases. Here's a tweet made by Steamdb on that - https://twitter.com/SteamDB/status/570951174028963840 Looks like Steam were trying to stop people doing what we were talking about.

I think, but am not sure that any game released last year will still work the way I mentioned as Steamdb already had the package name data. For games released after the change happened I don't think there's a way of doing it. Here's Wolfenstein: The Old Blood's page for example and there's no mention of countries alongside each entry - https://steamdb.info/app/350080/subs/

However, clicking on the various SubId numbers on that Wolfenstein page I can see region lock info like this which must be the RU version - https://steamdb.info/sub/66259/ Now I don't know if all games work like that and whether or not a lack of a SubId that mentions Brazil now means we'd be ok.

you need VPN to browse the catalogue, but you can't buy them. During checkout, items become "Unavailable"

That's not true, i've just tried to buy Life is Strange and got to PayPal payment without any problem, so i would just need to enter my PayPal credentials to finish the purchase.
Used hola! by the way.

Please tell me if you've managed to activate the game without VPN.

PS: I've used Hola as well, and the game switched to "unavailable" during checkout. Every time.

i didnt buy it in the end, just tested i could get to paypal login without the game switching to "unavailable".
Here's what I did:
Entered their website without hola! and logged in.
Enabled hola! and switched to brazil.
Searched for the game, added to my cart and proceeded to checkout.
Didnt disable hola! because the paypal login is made in a popup window, in which hola! is not active.
If i wanted to buy the game, i would just need to enter my credentials and confirm the payment.

Turning Hola off and back on and then setting Brazil in the ckecout window helped. I got Life is Strange, but Hotline Miami 2 is "blocked". For the past 2 hours now. I'm hoping it will go through, since Paypal DID pull my cash.

God. I'm still pissed that this happened before MGS5 came out.

I was so excited when I saw you could get Batman AK and it's season pass for less than 55$, I was hoping I could do the same thing with MGS5 (Because you can bet your ass their will be a season pass. I'd be willing to bet money on it. one card.)

Hopefully GMG will have a crazy sell for MGS5 like they did for Batman AK, because they also sold Batman super cheap.

Hmm, anyone knows how this will influence preorders that didn't have region locks but were cheaper? I've ordered Armikrog that will be released on 18th of August so the keys should be a day or two before that date if anything goes well but current changes may result in no or region locked key.

Hey guys, got some bad news. Tried to buy Life is Strange on Nuveem with the old Hola! trick, but my order was blocked within minutes after I paid using Paypal. So I anticipate a future refund rather than the arrival of the game in my games section.

I guess it's pretty clear now that they are starting to come down on users of Hola! at least. Whether it means they are doing something against users of other VPNs remains to be seen.

Permalink

not yet full indicative that they're doing something against all vpns. Hola VPN has already been blocked by nuuvem before this happened.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I specifically said that in the last sentence I wrote.

And Hola wasn't blocked; you just couldn't use it if it was set to Brazil or if you bought certain high profile games in the past - now it seems clear that it's blocked for good.

Okay, I was wrong to be worried after all. I just got an email from Nuveem saying that my order was approved and, after checking my games to see Life is Strange in it, I was able to activate it on Steam. Sorry for the drama, folks. Seems like the gravy train's still got some life in it yet!

So you got a "blocked" in your order list, and then they released it without your interference after a couple of hours? I've got a "Blocked" Hotline Miami 2 right now.

Yeah, that's right.

Here's what their approved email says: "Hi, [display name]*
Yeay, your order nº 2006636554463115 was approved and now you can play. Have fun! \o/

I got mine in six. To be honest, though, all that waiting to see if it would go through was pretty scary. If I didn't have other things to do at the time, I probably would have panicked and asked for a refund. Good thing I didn't.

Damn... So many great games are unavailable on Steam Store here, i used to buy through websites such as these. If even these stores start region locking their games i guess i'll go back to pirated version. It will come to a point where getting pirated versions will be easier than buying legit ones.

I've successfully purchased Life is Strange using Hola!

  1. I've enabled Hola!, entered the website, found the game, added to Checkout.
  2. In checkout, the game turned unavailable
  3. I've turned Hola on and off, and in the little pop-up window (click the smiley fire on your browser taskbar) I've chosen Brazil (if Brazil was chosen before it may not work)
  4. Game suddenly available
  5. Logged in WHEN ASKED TO, NOT EARLIER
  6. Pop-up Paypal, might have to retry connection.
  7. Got game in my library within 5 seconds.
  8. Activated as a ROW key

Now gonna try Hotline Miami 2

Tried Hotline Miami 2. It let me pay without going trough point 3-5. Order was "Blocked" and my cash is in limbo. I'm waiting for an email. if it doesn't arrive b the time I leave the office (5 hours+), I'll contact Nuuvem.

edit: After 8 hours the order got through and I got a generic Hotline Miami 2 key.

So... any news on "guessing" region locks more accurately? I've read they are going on "summer sale" on july, so it might be interesting to have an easy and reliable method to do so.
