High-Tech DLC or a Pricing Disaster? You decide.
Does anyone know, if i get Tier 1, how long do i have so i can upgrade and purchase the rest of the tiers? Not sure when I will be actually playing the game. Its a little pricey to just leave them around. Like the EUIV and CKII dlcs i purchased XD

I own none of this. I am not sure with backlog when I will get to itt. Is T3 worth it if you have none of the DLC or base? T1 is a go I guess.

In my humble opinion, T3 is absolutely worth it if you don't own anything, as you'd normally pay around $5 for the base game plus a little less than that for each DLC even when they're on sale. Also the game relies on DLC a lot, which is why some might argue it's a cash grab you'd better avoid. However, I found the base game on its own to be quite playable (tested out during a free Steam weekend) and supposedly you can also substitute some DLC by mods. If you're not sure when you get to playing it with your backlog, you're probably safe going for T1. Personally I'd go for T3, if I didn't already own half of it through their previous bundle. I also had no luck finding a bundle split through group buys - seems like almost anyone who is interested in that particular type of game already owns it by now. And those who don't seem to be missing the same DLC as me. So, that's something to keep in mind as well: if you go for T1 now, you might be having a hard time getting the DLC later, should you decide that you want them after all.

Thank you very much. This was helpful. I will get T1 and probably T3 now.

One more hint: earlier this year Paradox added a launcher to Skylines which basically adds nothing to the game and only takes up resources and serves as a canvas to advertise their DLC. There's a few methods to bypass this launcher in the forum. I can recommend the "Not Paradox Launcher" which worked fine for me.

and only takes up resources
The Launcher closes itself the moment the game launches. At that point it no longer runs and stops using CPU, RAM and GPU.
I'm by no means a fan of additional launchers, but let's at least be honest here. The fact the launcher closes after cities.exe launcher is exactly why the launcher bypass works.

Have you checked task manager processes? As far as I know, it continues running in background, unlike "Not Paradox Launcher", which is the main reason why someone came up with that bypass launcher. Maybe they changed it? Obviously, I can't check any more since I'm using the bypass launcher.

The launcher never kept running when the game booted up.
We (the more serious(well, that's debatable if you know us, lol) half of the modding community) have checked, extensively, from day one. The launcher has issues(ohhh yes), but its processes were thankfully never one of them, as that would severely affect the ability to use custom content.
The launcher had serious issues when it was added if you had a lot of workshop content (it would take up to two hours to load the actual launcher because it ran a WS content check), but they patched that pretty quickly once we pointed out the cause.

Okay, I was curious. I reverted back to the Paradox launcher to see for myself. And you're right, it does close itself after launching the game. It's still very big and I honestly can't see any benefit that would make me want to keep it. I went back to not-launcher and would recommend the same for everyone else. Thanks for the clarification.

The game is really good and if you dont have anything from the bundle its an amazing deal.

Good thing I saw that I had this forgotten tab in my browser, otherwise I'd have missed the bundle, it was kind of a rough week when it came out so I left it for later.
Anyway, I got the $1 tier, I've been meaning to get this game for years.
