GTA 4 - Niko waiting months traveling a boat... he is poor in the first levels.. and his cousin dies...

Half-Life Opposing Force - shephard, a 21 year old marine, he was assigned to go to black mesa research facilty during the Resonance Cascade, he is alone all the time, you can feel how lonely he is during the game, and all his other marine buddy's dying, then at the end, right when he was going to get out of black mesa he had to fight a huge gene worm blocking the exit, all his time fighting xenians,race X forces, and black ops, he had to fight the gene worm, when he defeated the worm, g-man kept him in that osprey, in the void, untill he has another mission, rumors say that he will make a comeback in half-life 3...

The 1st episode is quite boring, the 2nd will introduce you the case. The action starts in the 3rd and the 4th episode.
And this ending, that was totally unexpected. For a bundle game, it's amazing.

Also I cried a river at the ending of Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call. And the ending of Alice: Madness Returns made me depressed.
