I've seen one these (different model), lower specs, almost twice the price :| But if I get the chance...
I liked what I saw then, except for the price and lack of dedicated video card and i7.
Thanks for the suggestion.

My GF had Lenovo under 2 weeks. She wanted laptop, cos she is travelling a lot cause her job.
She wanted to play too, but at least her favorite game was lagging like hell.
Can't anymore remember the model, but it had mostly same specs like your 1st choice. It was around 1500€.
She went back to shop and told to the seller "I WANT TO PLAY WITHOUT LAGS!"
So he came back home with her new laptop and she had NO MORE LAGS!
(now i'm talking about in game lags ((not internet connection lags))
Best of this is this ... ASUS was 300€ cheaper and with that 300€ she can buy bigger HD and more memory if she needs or want.

Sorry my bad english

Thanks for the suggestion. I noticed the model myself and had the chance to test it a bit. It's powerful, no doubt but it's a bit too bulky for me. And I agree about ASUS. What really bothers me is that the models available here are cheap in terms of construction and materials compared to what they sell in the US and UK. :|

Hi guys,
I'm thinking on getting a new laptop but somehow I find it very hard to decide.
I need it for development and a little bit for design. I'm not planning on playing too many games on it but it would be great to have a good enough video card on it. I would go for an Intel i5/i7, at least 8GB RAM, 512SSD, at least Full HD and, if it's the case, nVidia dedicated card. As for ideal display size, I always liked the 14" ones but it looks like it's a rare size and somehow specific to Lenovo.
Now, most of the laptops I've seen so far use cheap materials and are poorly constructed. (or so it seems to me). Maybe I'm cherry-picking too much but I don't wanna spend my money on something that makes a bad impression.
My first choice would be a Lenovo Y50-70 (IdeaPad Y50-70, 15.6, FHD IPS (SLIM), Intel Core i7-4720HQ, DDR3 8GB (2x4), SSD 512GB, External DVD/RW, VGA nVidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB, HDMI, WiFi, BT 4.0, Gbit LAN, HD camera, 4 cell batt). Unfortunatelly the battery is a huge drawback in this case. I've seen reviews on older models and it seems some had problems with the display and many considered the colors are strange.
My second choice would be a LENOVO IdeaPad Yoga2 13.3" QHD+ IPS Multi-Touch, Intel Core i7 4510U, DDR3 8GB (1x8), 512GB SSD, VGA Int, no ODD, HDMI, Wi-Fi, BT, 4 cell battery, HD camera 1.0M, Win8.1 since it's portable and I can use it as a notebook as well as a tablet.. Unfortunately I'm not sure about Intel HD Graphics 4400. And it also comes with Windows 8.1 Standard when I already have a few Pro licenses. Another big drawback is the fact the dual-boot could be tricky.
There is of course the MacBook possibility since I'm thinking on getting serious about iOS dev but to be fair I can't afford it now.
So, if any of you have any suggestions, ideas etc. I would really appreciate the help.
