Sending a GIFT can activate the account and therefore trade?
yes and no.
I mean activating gift (as opposed to redeeming key) will count as purchase and so this new account would be able to add friends, vote on Greenlit and eventually - trade. But trading will not be active right away - only after 30 days afaik.
As for market - not sure if it counts though, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't - you need wallet funds or active payment method (a.e. credit or debit card or PayPal) to use market at all.

hmm... lets try it again...
you can GIFT games from inventory to your ALT account (or vise versa). You can't trade cards or other community items that way. Gifting option works on games only.
Gifting any game (even Gun Monkeys - anything cheap will work as long as it's a giftable copy in inventory and not a Beta or pass) to your ALT account and activating it there (adding it to that account's library) would lift restriction from many locked features on Steam (as Workshop, Greenlit, friends requests, etc) - including trading. BUT! There's still a cooldown for 30 days (if I remember correctly) before you actually would be able to trade.
Gifting and activating game doesn't count if you want to use market on that ALT account. For that you actually need to make a "store purchase" for that account (add wallet fund, or buy any game or DLC from store - and not as a gift but for that account).

Since I had no experience with those (USA, 1st world problems XD ) - can't really say. I think that it would work - as long as it's for your region.
I see your main is in Portugal (not sure what region it is for Steam - West Europa, EU?). If you have your alt account IP in the same region (not sure how it could be any different, but...), and games are region-locked for the same region - it should be good, imho. If it's not the same - then it's a totally different can of worms and I really don't know anything about it.
If you try it - can you confirm if it works? Just out of curiosity...
Or if anybody can for sure from experience say if RL games work for this or not?

you can trade... you can't use the market, and no, you won't be able to market stuff even with a gift

Do you get an error or something like that if you try to trade with you alt ?

You must "charge" your wallet if you want use the market, so you must use paypal\visa\steam gift card\whatever
afaik you should be able to trade without problem...

Defy gravity is 0.14$ if i'm not wrong

I think that would work - assuming region lock is for the same region those accounts are in.

They write in steam support it does.
But actually it does not.

Well, here is said:
How can I gain access to all Steam features?
To access all of these features, simply do any of the following on your Steam account: purchase a game from the Steam store (It cannot be a gift for another account), redeem a Steam gift, or complete a microtransaction (in-game purchase).
But in reality - redeeming steam gifts does not unlock community market.
