Next gen graphics

Am I the only one who doesn't see a huge difference? Granted, the consoles aren't out yet, but the videos don't seem to impress me much. Maybe i'm just becoming desensitized to graphical enhancements, but I remember the days when I would look at my N64 and be blown the fuck away.

EDIT: For the record, graphics will always be less important than gameplay and story for me, I'm just trying to figure out what everyone is shitting bricks about.

I couldn't care less about graphics honestly, physics is what matters to me. Aside from raytracing, i'm not really that excited by graphics anymore. All we can really do graphically is add more polygons, up the resolution, and have better resolution textures. Physics wise, there is so much more to do like water physics, material physics (cloth, rubber, metal, plastic etc), air physics, hell, simulate the atmosphere. Better graphics are great and I can't wait until you can't see a single stray jaggedy pixel on your 8k monitor on a game with 16k textures and a 500,000 polygon wristwatch that behaves just like a real watch, but developers are leaving physics behind to focus on the shineys. Doesn't help that "next gen" consoles have a netbook CPU in them.

My hopes are with the new source engine, something jaw dropping with physics like it was when HL2 launched.

Watch Dogs is going to have water physics, and they even have a whole system for determining atmospheric conditions like wind currents. So even that's not too far off.

the step from current gen to next gen consoles is about gameplay? interesting, how is that? ^^

this is as if i buy a new graphics card for my pc, install it and wait for the gameplay improvements it sure will do. xD

"next gen" LOL WHAT. the graphics hardware in the next consoles being released is OLD .. lol. we are already 2 or 3 gens in front. PC MASTER RACE FTW fuck console shit > only should be used for dvd / bluray players or DOORSTOPS. piles of shit

The current Generation was very disappointing at the beginning too.. it started blowing some minds with games like Oblivion, now go and compare the graphics of Oblivion with Skyrim (both the same generation) and you might get a grasp of what might be in store this time.

Other good examples: Gears of War 1 vs. Gears of War 3, GTA 4 vs. GTA 5, Uncharted 1 vs. Uncharted 3.. all are games that where released on the same generation, concidered looking great when they where released, but really look like from another time when compared to their newer installments.
