What the hell? You got suspended for that?

...You know, I'm beginning to question Steamgifts' staff's way of handling the website. Not trying to act like an ass to the support team, but this is some terrible managing. While some other rule breakers don't get their crappy threads deleted, bans are handed out to people who want to be generous.

Like, fucking seriously. The rules need to be reviewed or something. I always try to be understanding and agree with the staff's decisions, but sometimes it's hard to do so. I know it's none of my business and that I'm not in any position to criticize, but that doesn't stop me from saying my own opinion about the whole thing.

Then again, I'm not in a very "understanding" mood today and I might just be typing crap to blow some steam. :P

I am feeling the same way. I only recently joined steamgifts, but have seen some ass backwards stuff going on that you already mentioned above. I am already starting to feel it's not worth the time on this site, which is a shame.

And tell me that this guy is not annoying.

This guy's "giveaways" has been banned from 2 subreddits in reddit already for blatant advertising spam. Before you judge the mods here, how about you do some research?

If you still can't see this guy is shady, then you need help

Well we have two different opinions on it, I was more or less referring to this gem of a thread that has been up for a while now.

I don't see your point by linking that thread. If you're willing to be blinded on the facts that I just provided you. Then please do continue supporting his disgusting practices.

My point is support is backwards as fuck fanboy. They let that garbage stay on here but remove others that may in your opinion be garbage as well.

are u stupid?

Then why is this thread still here if support was "backwards as fuck fanboy" just like you said? It's obvious that OP is being a drama queen.

Also since you didn't even care reading the link I have you. He was suspended because he regifted 2 gifts. I'm actually fucking surprised that the support has unbanned his account for like 16 hours after being suspended.

I'm pretty sure that guy was suspended for advertising, but the length of the ban is only for a few days. However, support members can't close threads, only mods like Bobo can, and I bet he has a shitton of stuff that's backlogged.

Notice that while more people are getting suspended, comments/posts on the forums aren't being removed because there aren't enough actual mods and support is doing what they can, but their privileges are limited.

Ahhh..I was wondering why the thread was still open despite him getting suspended for spam.

Thank you for this, I appreciate the "research". :P
I'm still a bit annoyed at support for other reasons, mostly regarding the forum, but I think I'm just being an asshole again, sorry.

I assure you that we've been dealing with him in a level and fair-headed way. Unfortunately, the OP is very good at putting words in our mouths, especially since he knows we cannot address his responses on the forums due to restrictions concerning revealing information in support tickets.

Yeah, sorry for blaming support, didn't really mean to do it. I actually posted that comment right after having an argument with someone, so I was pissed and dumped my anger here. :P

It's not like I'm trying to steal traffic from them by linking to a simple give-away webpage I've created. I have no advertisements on my give-away page, either. But even if I did have advertisements, why would it even matter?

It cost $120-$150 for 16GB of DDR3 RAM. My webpage has ZERO advertisements. The "homepage" of my website is for my software, Dimmdrive, which is commercial. However, if somebody thinks I'm going to make money from this give-away, all I can say is this: I WISH : ) I spent about $1000 out of my pocket to give stuff away and I've accepted that it costs me money that I'll never seen again. I'm basically lighting dollar bills on fire. This isn't a money maker. This is a way to do something cool for the community.

And actually, that would be awesome if somebody can give away FREE HARDWARE and somehow not go bankrupt doing so. If I could figure that out, holy crap guys, I'd give away TERABYTES of RAM if I could :)

In general you should ask support before linking to your own personal website. source 1 source 2 source 3 I'm pretty sure they would have approved it if you asked beforehand, but there's a process you have to go through. I don't think they had an actual problem with the fact that you're giving away ram...unless they want you to download more ram

It seems like a very gray area you landed yourself in here. I'm from CAG so I'm used to seeing giveaway links and sponsored contests in their contest section. The impression I get from Steamgifts is they only want game-related raffles that are in their control. They don't care if you give away copies of your software as "free" advertising, but when the raffles are taking place out of their control it's frowned upon. I think they're trying to avoid the SlickDeals mentality here and only want a community that reports on game deals or on-site game raffles.

I suppose a better way of phrasing it would be that because this isn't exclusive to SteamGifts users then it's an advertising campaign. While you lose money giving products away you still are advertising your product by proxy. A lot of sites consider that spam/free-advertising unless you are paying them for using their site as a platform. It would change the dynamics of the community.

Thank's for the giveaway! Currently only running 8 GB DDR3 since when building my PC i decided to put extra money towards the GPU for gaming. To have 16 would be a welcome upgrade since I also produce music in addition to gaming.
