Do you like this idea
I like the idea. To prevent floods of mystery giveaways (like trains or something) there could be a limit - 2-3 mystery giveaways per week and problem solved :)

An idea: Instead of showing the value and such, it could show a list of possible games.
Just so you enter knowing there is no risk of having to activate something you don't want.
Me, for example, the amount of games I don't want is way higher than the amount of games I do want.
EDIT: Or even better, SG itself could make a curator list, with the games that could be created for a mystery giveaway (in case of christmas for example). It would prevent people of giving away like, Bad Rats just for trolling.

It would have to show the point value just for practical reasons. The only way to be sure you won't win something you don't want would be to indicate if it's on your wishlist or not.
It could potentially also leverage the SG blocked games list - so it would give you some sort of indication that the game is in your blocked list before you enter, and of course block games you own as well.
I think both of those would be nice - for the purists, you'd only enter them if they are on your wishlist, and for the less discerning, you'd at least be sure it's not on your blocked list.

While it would be fun, you'd also end up with people who don't want the revealed game activating it in their libraries. Has the potential to be wasteful, or requiring multiple re-rolls.

I don't like this idea. The point I am complaining (to myself) the most about this website is people joining just everything they can in order to hoard and have games independent from what game it is. Most of my giveaways have been from games I really liked to play and gave away in order for them to be played. People shall make a decision if they interested in playing a game prior to joining the giveaways. A mystery giveaway would just amplify such bad behaviour. Although I see it as a fair choice of the creator and groups. That could work.

You know what would be a cool idea for SG to implement? Mystery giveaways.
-The game is hidden until the giveaway is ended.
-You'd still see how much the game would cost by its P value and if you own the game it wouldn't allow you to enter, but it wouldn't tell you what game it was.
-This would probably only be allowed for group/private giveaways as if it were public that would just be crazy and annoying because half the giveaways would probably be mysteries.
-Great for Christmas giveaways. Currently you may not know which giveaways you're going to win, but you still have an idea of which giveaways you entered, this way you may get something completely unique and different than you expect. A true Christmas present that is a true surprise.
Possible negative side effects include a flood of mystery trains and puzzle solutions being mystery giveaways. I personally wouldn't want to see mystery giveaways all the time, but an occasional one might be cool and I think it would be fun for the holidays. Maybe just make it available only during December?
Its just a thought. I don't know how the SG giveaway code works, but I would think there would be some way to make this a thing.
