I myself harbour a deep-seated disdain for anything resembling Flappy Bird, but at least this one has got adequate collision detection. The shuriken mechanics are a tad awkward, though.

Hey, dev here. I did use GameMaker as Jokin666 mentioned, so the language would be GML (GameMaker Language). Inkscape for art. And it took me about 5 days to make first version (only challenge level, one enemy type). You can see the progress album of GIFs here: http://imgur.com/a/iOpW8
You could also check Construct 2, which is quite loved 2D gamedev tool and might be even better than GameMaker in some cases (I haven't tried it yet).

Well, I have played the endless mode. Is more fun than the challenge mode, with the new monsters :P
But I found a problem..when I reach X meters the game pauses for a second and goes to the main screen..so I think I completed the endless mode too XD (218 points)
If you will continue to improve the game, maybe you can made a Story mode, with a shop to adquire new weapons and abilities :D

I simply loathe flappy bird and just when all the stupid obsession the public has with that abomination ends, you bring another clone.... Nope .... I'm staying away ... Good luck to your mate but this game is just not for me.

If anyone has any questions - I made this little rage-inducing thing ^_^
HTML5 version is a bit buggy on Mac/Linux, so you gotta use right mouse button for shuriken throwing, instead of intended double click. And for some reason sounds/music are disabled by default. There's a downloadable Windows build at the bottom of that page & an Android version available (waiting for iTunes approval).
A tip for using shurikens is to "duck" down before double tapping/clicking - helps with aim & decreases a risk of death. Takes some time to get used to, tho. But you can ignore that and go all melee, so far there are no enemy types, which would require ninja stars to kill them.
It's not a final version (I hope), at the very least I'm planning to make more smaller hand-crafted levels to make a learning curve a bit more pleasant for new players.
