Its like they're lost and can't think of anything new. I remember the days when the old games stayed on their current systems that still have large userbases and a sequel came out on the next gen system.
I don't mind and actually really like HD remakes/remasters when they're very old games and can use a fresh coat of paint (i.e. Bionic Commando Rearmed), but re-releasing a 2 year old game is fucking sad. I can also understand it with something like GTA 5, as that is still relatively newish, but Sleeping Dogs is clearly in the last gen. Should just leave it there or add backwards-fucking-compatibility.

I'm ok with it if enough time passes and I have a compelling reason to want to replay it. Case in point: GoW Collection. They added some polish to it, packaged 1 & 2 together and sold it for a very reasonable price and it allowed me to replay the first two games prior to my playing GoW III, which I ended up playing about 4 years after GoW II came out.
I'm also ok if its a game that straddles the generations and either comes out at the same time or just after (within six months) of the other version.

Sleeping Dogs on Steam can be ridiculously low, whoever buys this is not very bright!
Also this is not for players who played the game previously.

i have the game yet, will it be upgraded to this new version?

I can understand the updating to the new consoles, but re-release for the PC? Wtf are they going to add to it? I suppose they are doing it because it doesnt cost them any additional dev time since the consoles are just dumb'ed down PC's now. Just seems silly.

Why PC? We already got the high resolution textures and effects that were not possible on 360/ps3...

Because it's the current trend. Releasing "remastered" versions of fairly recently released games for a quick cash grab.

Well I will never buy into it....maybe if it was well priced and I never played it and it really had nice upgrades....but besides that nope.

So Sleeping Dogs™ Definitive Edition appeared on Greenmangaming, available for pre-purchase...
Here's a comparison, but i think it is 360 vs XboxOne..

On PC we had better resolution options + the HD texture pack, so i don't think the remastered version will make much difference...

This is becoming a disturbing trend in the high-budget gaming sector.
Comb for pre-orders with "exclusives" that don't stay exclusive.
Release.
Patch.
Drop just enough DLC to justify the 'season pass'.
Release replacement for base game that includes all/most DLC.
Remove base game from circulation, creating price-hike.
"Remaster" the game, release as the new replacement, remove previous edition.
Repeat as many times as you can manage.

No word on whether the PC is getting anything. I loved the game personally, but the attempts by devs to get people to double dip and re-play things is a bit silly though. Id rather hear about Sleeping Dogs 2.
Edit: SquareEnix just confirmed its coming to PC too.
