Bring back free game giveaway bans

well i think for people who miss a giveaway if good have free games here.
why people will miss a giveaway if they can know about them from internet articles? because some people work, also we have time zones an some people is sleep when giveaway happen.
now why we dont back to the old system where free games were disabled on sg? because a lot of people who dont find the game they want giveaway just select other with similar name or the deluxe version then people who win have to wait 7 days to mark like no recived and they miss real deluxe versions giveaways.
in the end in both system people rush to try to get points from free games but in the end they will have 0 points because free games give 0CV points ^^
so dont worry people will not get CV points and people who miss have a chance to win a game they want ^^.

Curious to know if currently allowing free games as giveaways benefited the SG support team. Hypothetically it does. The support team has to deal with less tickets on reporting free giveaways because in the past users tried to pass off recent free games for full contributor value, before the games were marked as free, so other SG users had to report to support to retract the illegitimately earned contributor value.

Send an "Other" ticket letting staff know there's a free game giveaway. We will remove the game and manually delete all the recent giveaways for it. Sending individual user reports just wastes everyone's time and clogs the support queue.

He also points out two related issues with free game giveaways before they were permitted:

1. Support team members had to manually delete free game giveaways which time would have been used better to resolve the already high amount of tickets support team has to go through.
2. SG users, although for the greater good, wrongly alerted the support members. They sent support tickets on individual giveaways creators rather than they submitted labeled "Other" tickets. A side effect if steamgifts reverts back to banning free game giveaways.

'Credit' doesn't give much on this site. CV does, but these games give no CV. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

I have games which weren't free but they have been, so do I get a ban if I was to give them away???

It doesn't matter if they were free or not, this place is about giving so who cares if they are free or not.

I know I've given away a couple 0 CV games. Mostly it's because I already had the game and got a hold of another copy somehow. For instance, that Stories Wishlist Quest happened to be running at the same time as it being available for free on Steam, so I ended up getting another copy after already having it.

Still, quite a few people entered for that GA, given that there were many opportunities to get it. So I think there are just a lot of people who miss the 1-day or 2-day window for getting these games, and I'm glad something I couldn't use went to someone who could.

Also, sometimes the servers for these kind of events get overloaded like crazy. I remember that Furi Razer thing... that was a nightmare. I was ridiculously lucky, but a lot of other people missed out. In that case, I think it's a lot better that people give these games away rather than snagging keys and just selling them on G2A or something.

You won 14 free games here. Why didn't you get those from official giveaways instead since you claim it's impossible to miss them? You also gave away free games and now you're so opposed to other people doing that...

Anyway I used to be opposed to this as well, but now I don't care anymore since it's obvious this won't change after so much time and I have more important things to worry about in life than website rules that don't harm me in any way.

What is wrong if someone takes a game and wants to give it away for free?
What if they took the key and didn't realize that they already have it?
Look up key reselling sites.There are lots of keys sold there that were gave away for free. Get mad at that.

Maybe adding a poll would be beneficial. I actually got some games I missed during their free period. And got rid of Gun Monkeys in my inventory that was bothering me for some time and didn't know anyone who doesn't have it and would want it.

You are totally free to skip giveaways for games that have been free.

I missed the SUPERHOT free giveaway.

Others missed Euro Truck Simulator 2, Darkness 2, Walking Dead, Brutal Legend, The Flame and the Flood, And a long etc.

A mass amount of excellent games that you couldn't win anymore with the old restriction.

I want to win SUPERHOT. 0 CV for former free games it's fair and give us users the opportunity of winning a LOT of amazing games. Why do you want to eliminate this?

I miss the giveaways often, and I like I get a second chance. I am still kicking myself for not getting Brutal Legend when it was free, but I had limited internet at the time. You don't need to giveaway or enter for free games if you don't like it, the only advantage people giving them away is improving their ratio, possibly allowing them to enter some sgtools giveaways which usually have a cv gate as well, so not a huge deal.

Ban everyone who can't understand the simple rules.

SG rules allow free games to be given away. It seems like it's you who doesn't understand the rules.

What "credit" are you talking about?!

I honestly don't want this, the moderators and admin of this site said it themselves that if they don't have to moderate and constantly check which games are free. It takes less time away from making other changes and improvements to the site, also letting them focus more on tickets. Also it stops other issues, like people making a Hard Reset Redux giveaway, when they're actually giving away Hard Reset. So there's no faulty giveaways, people who missed the free keys still have a chance to get them, people who're giving away free keys get no CV. Yeah you spend a bunch of points on them, but points are free and if you find out where the key is, you can just get it for free. And if it's not available anymore, points make it a nice barrier to entry, if you want the game, you're probably not going to want to compete with every single person on SG if it's down at 0 points, just makes the odds worse for yourself. So people who want the game will be more likely to enter and those who don't won't waste points on it most likely.

I don't really see how this is a bad thing honestly, all it does it create a little bit of spam for awhile. You either find and get the key and sync your account and them all the spam disappears. Or you just hide it. Either or is really not that big of a deal and very easy and accessible to get rid of the problem.
