I'm genuinely curious whether or not Blizzard is going to 'encourage' the makers of Paladins to change a number of the characters in the game. I'm not saying Paladin's bad; I haven't touched it as I do own overwatch, but I've looked at how a few of the characters play, and they're basically carbon-copies of their overwatch counterparts with a different model/skin.
Dwarf who builds turrets and shoots molten metal out of his gun? Check. Guy with revolver whose right mouse click unloads whole clip? Check. Guy in shiny armor and a rectangular force-shield? We gave him a flamethrower, so he's totes not Reinhardt. Character who wields ice and can lock themselves in a block of ice to recover health/block damage? Meibe I'm just seeing things. And those are just the characters I've seen. How many more functional clones would I see if I looked harder The loot crate and unlockable skin system? It basically comes down to it being Freeverwatch with mounts.
I'm all for having 'clones' or games inspired by other games, but when there is an apparent lack of creativity to the degree that I've seen, I've got to wonder if the makers of the game aren't just trying to make some 'easy' freemium [and yes, there are such purchases available, as there are even packs available on steam] sales off the Overwatch gravy train.

I feel that if they wanted to do so, they'd have done so earlier. Paladins was already a thing (closed beta) since at least December 2015, way before Overwatch released (even though OW was also in closed beta around December as well), and almost all of the similar characters you mention were already in the game back then. It's just that Paladins only came to Steam recently.

SMH. This reminds me of the "Tactics Ogre ripped of Final Fantasy Tactics" discussions I saw after Tactics Ogre got ported to the PS1. Paladins had those characters before Overwatch released anything but the most basic of character profiles, and they share a lot more similarities with SMITE, Hi-Rez's other game, than it does Overwatch. You're just seeing things.

It may remind you of it, but I was not saying that X ripped off Y; only that the similarities are strong enough that people HAVE made that comparison, unless a lot of people are seeing things. Heck, look at VideoGameDunkey's satirical/sarcastic assessment of how they're 'nothing alike'.
Activision/Blizzard is the bigger name company, so it's only a matter of how litigious the company is feeling on a particular day, after all.
Also, I'd just like to point out that the Tactics Ogre vs. Final Fantasy Tactics argument comparison falls flat when you take into account that many of the people who worked on Tactics Ogre were integral to the development of FFT, whereas Paladins vs Overwatch is a case of two separate teams from separate companies having the 'same idea at vaguely the same time'.

My point was that people are looking at Game A, which came out before Game B - Paladins and Overwatch in this case, TO:LUCT and FFT in my previous one - and saying Game A ripped off Game B. Unless you're a time traveler, you can't rip off a game that came out after you. Activision/Blizzard being a bigger name company doesn't mean jack when Hi-Rez can just point to the fact that their game came out months ahead of even a beta version of Overwatch being released.
EDIT: Realized that not many people may know or research this, so to clarify my illustration, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together came out for the SNES in Japan over a year before FFT did, then got ported to the PS1 and released worldwide.

Yeah I've played a few hours of it and was pleasantly surprised.

most f2p games have premium contents :P its their only way to get more money although it becomes p2w then xD

yep I got given the game several years ago - and was really excited (sad but true :) - and then went to get some content and nearly shit my pants - excuse that expletive - but I saw the prices being charged and the amount of DLC required to make the game workable and made the only review I have ever done stating WTF :(

Yep. I got more than 50% of its contents without spent a cent, then I got too lazy to get more.
I guess I can call it paid for lazy people.

Viridi is a nice little time sync. There are also lots of short games like Antenna and The Plan.

The base game is, but it's been nearly a year without the Devs fixing the (frequent) platform bugs and (rare) clipping bugs; addressing the ever-escalating community misbehaviors of abusive conduct, griefing, and exploitation; fixing certain control configuration and optimization issues; or fixing the FFA-exclusive bugs and poor design choices (while still retaining daily rewards exclusive to FFA and Ranked).
Add in an especially unintuitive approach to how they approach their store sales..
It's a fun game, and I can recommend trying it, but there's a lot of frustrations you'll bump into if you start to get invested into the game.
I've been giving them leeway, as they still haven't removed the Early Access label, but it's.. it's gotten to the point of being more exhaustive than it's really worth the hassle of dealing with, and all of my friends that used to play (as well as countless others that I met through and used to run with in Brawlhalla) came to that conclusion well before I did.
It's a solid game, but it still lacks polish. The devs also seem to be leaning toward a 'cosmetic sales matter more than functionality improvements' path, which bodes poorly for the future, and even with those elements pushed aside, the game still has a lot to implement before it reaches the breadth of features available in [eg, Super Smash Bros].
Being free, it's hard not to recommend it, but if it wasn't free.. I'd very emphatically say to wait until EA cleared and see what kind of game it was then. But, with regular cosmetic-colors unlock events, if you're a cosmetic-concerned player, it may be worth joining in sooner rather than later- if you don't mind the risk of getting burnt out with dealing with the less polished bits in the meantime.

Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist. This is my favourite one but sadly it's too short. It's from the designer of Stanley Parable.

Yes short as the demo & even in more "absurd" & crazyest.
Very recommended!

Carpe Diem is a 10 minutes decent story.

I'm curious because I never really go out of my way to look through free games on steam.. because generally I think they aren't very good. Even though there are a lot of bad priced games out there. However I'm sure there are many good free games on steam... At the moment I'm going to play a free game called PRICE (what an ironic name) because I happen to find it on the main store - it looks pretty good.
So what do you think of the free games available on steam?
Can you recommend any?
