funny thing is i just tried Kingdom Rush Origins, not that different from the original
Almost a polished reskin of "Kingdom Rush" with the same $$ pits
only difference i noticed is the hero and his spell stuff. and the special ones are behind a PAYWALL
as in you cant "earn" them in the game. AND THIS GAME WAS NOT FREE
why do i keep hoping for good mobile games?!
get an emulator and play "Advanced wars" from GBA. or something interesting

Freemium is like what you describe with your experience with Origins. Which is kind of odd but then again I bought them in a sale before this promotion so maybe there's a difference because of that. Neither Frontiers nor Origins had any paywalls or blocked content when I played them.
