Just wondering this because I won dead island GOTY more than 24 hours ago. Guy made a 1 hour giveaway, left before it ended and still hasnt come back. I know Im just being impatient, but its just weird to me.

Probably 24 hours, and only because it was a Steam gift, they weren't on when it ended, and I had to work later.
Keys get sent the moment I check their profile for unactivated/multiple wins.

5 days (multiple winners), dev took some time to reply me back.

I know you're eager to play, but 24 hours is really nothing :o Be a little more patient!
I think the longest I've had to wait for a game is around 3-4 days. In any case I don't see any reason to rush people who are giving me a game for free :)
Hmm, as for the time I've had a winner wait... probably a few hours because they were offline and it was a steam gift. I like to end my giveaways in times where I'm avaliable so I don't have them waiting for me too much.

Seven days because the winner of my giveaway had blacklisted me and I noticed this doing my checks...

Lol, I give it as soon ass possible, so within the hour or two, depending on how many giveaways. Though and this happened to me recently, a guy won both copies of a game, and I didn't realize until like a day and a half later.

For any other giveaway I like to personally expedite the sending of giveaways except when I find out that the winner has blacklisted me. I have 170 giveaways ending tomorrow on 1300 hours Brussels time and I'm quit confident that I'll do all checks and send all gifts the same day except for possible SG support tickets and people that are winners and at the same time blacklisted me.

TL DR: if you won a giveaway of mine and at the same time you have blacklisted me then you wil have to wait the full 7 days including the very last second.

Lol, the worst part is the waiting even when I see that they're online. Like mark as received.

Out of experience I can only say that expediting the sending of giveaways is beneficial to the marking as received, some examples:

I send nearly all of these gifts out the same day they ended except some that were with SG support:

726 cars => all marked received within 4 days
117 cars => all marked received within 3 days

All nicely within the 7 days by the book mark. :-)

I can't believe you got blacklisted by someone who WON your game. Did you ever figure out why?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Some possibilities are things like users that can't enter my giveaways, users that I reported on SG and/or SGT for major rule breaking, those that dislike SGTools, anti-Semitism, racism, backstabbers, and so on. To date I found out 6 such users and I off course returned the favor.

I actually was blacklisted by someone and they entered my giveaway and won. I delivered it as fast as I could but I did not find out being blacklisted until after I delivered the key. Normally I only check rule-breaking but not being blacklisted.

I hear you and that's why I now include a blacklist check in my checks as I have the same thing that happened to you happened to me.

Permalink

In many cases I was too busy to remember or bother to do blacklist checks. Rule checking is already enough amount of time especially if there are multiple gifts to send. But were I granted a re-roll for being blacklisted by winner, I wouldn't mind adding that layer of work.

How can you know someone has blacklisted you? There seem to be a whole lot of tools I don't know of yet.

Can someone please teach me what to check for with my GA winners? :)

Just click on someones avatar and check if you can enter one of the users giveaways and look for the message that will appear, if it's says you blacklisted you'll know.

Thnx for the answer, but almost all my previous GA winners don't have (running) giveaways. So how to check for blacklist then?

And how do you check for rules and stuff? Is there a tool somewhere?

Concerning rules: SGTools

Through the Rules Breakers tab you can check for not activated wins and multiple wins.

Concerning the giveaways they don't have to be running what I said works with giveaways that have ended.

^ This. I don't think it ever took me more than 2-3 hours to send stuff, no matter how long the train was or whatever other factor. I did have several winners that took 4-6 days to accept my key/gift though.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Mine wasn't from CIS and much longer on SG than me. I suspect he had no access to steam client before weekend. I have no problem waiting, but ffs he could post he can't activate. I'd even had no prob if it was a month or longer as long as I'm informed about that /rant

A couple days for delivering a gift on Steam, it was one ga for the Berlin train event. Something just kept me busy around that time and I simply wanted to take a break.

A few months, because the key turned out to be used and Nuuvem didn't want to give me another one / refund, so I had to make them wait until the game was on sale again.

But I usually like to make people wait 2-5 days.

4 days, waiting for the guy to actually redeem a marked win. Not deliberately withholding a key… I think once it took me 40-ish hours to get around sending the keys. Normally I send them in an hour, and the nightly flash giveaways are handed out the next evening (my time, CET/CEST).

I usually time my giveaways to end on a time I'm sure I'll be awake and available, so the most time that passed between the giveaway ending and me adding the key was 10 minutes.
On the other hand, the most time I waited for a winner to receive a gift was ~10 hours, but it was due to different timezones.

How come there're so few happy potatoes? Quick, hide the frying pans!

One my winners made me wait 7 days+ to tell me he won it already and told me to reroll

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I made someone wait 6 days before. He hadnt activated a win from the previous day, and since it hadnt been 7 days, I couldnt get a reroll right away. He sent me a friend request on Steam asking for it, so I told him he needed to activate his other win from the week and Id send. Right before the week ran out, he activated so I sent it.

Normally I try to get the key sent within an hour or two of the giveaway ending though

5-6 days because I sent the gift assuming I had written a key in it, but I hadn't.

Also did something similar with mistyping emails on steam gifts.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Around six months, I think. I gave the Steam gift shortly after the giveaway ended, but the game was removed from the winner's account because of credit-card fraud. We tracked down the thief, and he denied everything (of course). I'm waiting for the Summer Sale to buy Fallout 4, again, so I can give it to my very patient winner.

Usually, however, it's the winners that make me wait.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Don't know it that counts as waiting for the winner, but i once had to reroll a winner because he wasn't only the week to redeem it, even with me telling him to get in. So the winner got the game after the reroll, so more than 7 days after the end.
But usually the only really waiting time is when i either am not looking for a giveaway to end (so 2-3h at most) or when i'm waiting for answer of support, which can take a bit of time sometimes, but usually within a couple of hours, too.
