I'm waiting for winter sale. Hopefully the games I want will be reasonably priced by then.

Last winter sale sucked, I hope they do something good this summer.

They won't. Refunds killed flash sales, permanently. Price errors are pretty rare and mostly in countries that have trade restrictions. What we see on day one, will pretty much be the entire sale, except if Ubisoft does that stupid thing where they change which of their games are on sale, every few days.

Oh well, I honestly like summer/winter sale just for the community tasks, cards to obtain and nice badges to craft... and maybe something like the previous comic and its potential ARG.

Comment has been collapsed.

Ah, that stuff. I didn't think of that. I don't care much for any of it. I liked selling the cards for extra spending money, but I won't be able to do that this time anyway. Stupid trade restrictions.

I believe the trade restrictions won't apply in you obtained the card through trade of drops.. I just find it a good Steam hobby to craft badges, of course I try to make profit as much as possible but the collecting always comes first for me.

I'm really hoping for a real ARG this time.

Even tho i cant argue that it cancome in handy knowing the best deal for every game from the start but i kinda miss the 3 tiers of sales each day it was fun and made me feel like a kid again

$19.13. Also, a friend owes me $5.49 in game value.

That's cool, I've got $6.04 and $40 worth of items waiting to sell in the market(I make the peak price and wait for my chance, some have been there for months now).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Market items always drop during sales because of people selling low/fast for the sale.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's why I've lowered the price as far as I could for some items with high prices(currently I have 2 backgrounds on the market for $7 with the minimum prices).

Generic card prices usually rise, actually, due to increased demand in crafting badges

I understood what you meant, that's why I said I never bothered to check their store, because they're not as big as Steam.

Well, there are only 2 games I plan to buy: Kyn and Hard West, which should be under 10euro in total.

I've been planning to buy Legacy of Kain collection since 2 sales now, gotta do it this time.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I only played Blood omen: legacy of Kain back in the day (the top-down one), but a few years ago I tried one of the 3d ones and well... they didn't age well. Buying a modern action-adventure game would be a better idea - unless, of course, you buy them as a collector or plan to replay them for the sake of nostalgy.

PS: On a side note, I see that Kyn has quite a few negative reviews and it might end up in a bundle soon. Well, I will probably only buy Hard West this summer sale.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'd like to play the collection, for nostalgy as you said. I've played them years ago and I really loved them, gotta try them again definitely.

I never buy indie games in sales, because they'll be bundled sooner or later, but something like Castlevania, I'd like to buy it in this sale.

You played the original Blood Omen? I though the original Blood Omen aged really poorly, very difficult and bad game mechanics. The one thing I remember about the 3D games is that the camera changed mid jump, making you fail the jump, so frustrating :D

Haha, that's more about luck, not everyone would get that price for it. I have a background that was sold for $17 once with no fees, I could sell it right now for $12(no fees).

And that's why I didn't include the currency. It's more like making statistics about whether the community members are satisfied with what they have, for example $6.04 as a budget for games for me is so good, because $6.04 is quite a lot here.

I honestly envy you, I like to make trades, makes me interact with community members more and it's a good hobby(both financially and spiritually). The thing is, I don't really have much to start a decent trade thread.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Trades used to be more profitable in the old days. Now prices are up, key prices are down, people are greedy, a lot of steam rules have been added, etc. :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh well, I never care about people when it comes to marketing. Any price lower than the actualy real price fits for me, but of course some standards apply like bundles and previous sales, but if someone offers a game for $1 less than it really worth in spite of it being in bundles or previous sales I wouldn't mind, he wants profit I can't stop him. That's why I rarely trade here now, I have all the people I trust in my friends list and they provide me with suitable prices.

The new Steam rules as I beleive were only added to lift the heavy traffic on the servers during sales.

I went from like 90 to 150 last steam sale, I'm pretty sure I'll get to like 175 or so after this sale.. Still have almost a month to collect cards if the leaked dates are right..

The thing I like about sale cards is that they can be dropped during the entire sales time, you could even get a full badge without spending a penny. The leaked date is 23/06

$28... though I doubt I spend much of that since Valve really pissed me off with their trade-restrictions. So there's no way in hell I would ever go over that, ever. No more money for Valve for me, till they fix their mess.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I really really beleive Valve made these restrictions, because they're into deep shit with their servers troubles and they need them fixed, but since Valve is lazy(Duh, 18 years since HL1 and no HL3 yet).. they decided instead of actually finding a good solution for both ends, why don't we make restrictions to lift the high traffic on sales a little bit?

They literally said it's to relieve support.
Cause apparently hiring more support for your million-users client and your support NOT being the laughing stock would be un-Valve... or somesuch.
Can't believe support personal is more expensive than the money they loose on the market and store due to this.

Well, this is Valve, they have unique thinking, they might even have more reasons, personal reasons(with the support as well).

My own personal favorite theories are intention to make a SteamPhone and piling the willingness of the userbase for it, or money stashed from Apple and Google to Valve.

I actually went and checked my wishlist. And I realized I am one of the rare cases in which I don't want any games. My top 3 is No Mans Sky and Mafia 3, maybe Battlefield 1. And the first 2 will not be released or will be released too soon for the sale. So yea :D I'm good.

Damn, I wouldn't actually pay for any of those games even if I had the money and were on sale. I just don't like big games for some reason, I like indie games and 2d, sometimes retro too.

I don't believe you, you can't possible have the time to play every game you want. You can lie to everyone but not to yourself. Also there's a difference between really wanting and thinking you want something.
