So, I just got scammed...

Someone on my friend's list asked if I could buy them Killing Floor bundle, on sale, ended in less than 30 minutes, said he'd pay me back on a Sunday (3-4 days away), I said no... then I said ok...

4-5 days passed and then he blocked me... then he got some flack from ppl on his friend's list... then he added me on steam again and said this:

8:22 PM - <name removed>: Gawaine, i'm sorrry for what i did, not only by my friends sending messages to me, but on my own that what i did to you was unfair. It was really fucking unrespectfull from me, i'm not that kind of person in real life. This week i'm not going to school, so as soon as i get money, i'll buy my prepaid credit card and give you the 15$ i owe you. You're not obligated to accept my excuses or to talk to me afterward, i just wanted to apologize to you for being such generous with me, and me acting like a douche with you in return.

8:23 PM - Gawaine: I was really nice - I went out on a limb because you said you didn't have the money - then you went and turned around, removed, blocked me and didn't follow through on your end. I even gave you extra time. I was not impressed.

8:24 PM - <name removed>: I know and i apologize, i just wanna be in good term with you, so as a plus, if you want any game, that is not too expansive i'll give it to you aswell as the 15$ i owe you.

8:24 PM - Gawaine: I only expect to be repaid what we agreed to.

Trading experience: 9 months, over 200 trades, mostly for keys

Got both my Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider steam keys stolen by a scammer who copied another reputable trader's profile, name, etc. and hadn't been report on steamrep.com at the time. Sucked horribly.

I've only traded 4 times on Steamgifts. 3 out 4 were both tradeable games from me and the other traders. Only once I tried to trade my key for a tradeable game. The guy had no rep at all and we were going to use a middleman, then he just said he'll give me the game first. (Which then I sent him the key after) Personally I wouldn't have done that to be honest.

A guy wanted Orcs must Die, and he was supposed to pay a couple bucks, but ran away. It was like 14 months ago already.

But 6 months ago, he said sorry to me, and gave me Dead Space 2.

when trading be sure to make comments on each other's profile on what the trade would be before making the trade. then screenshot it, this provides evidence when scammed.

Personally I have never been scammed, I have traded with low ballers though just because I was lazy and didn't feel like working towards an even trade but even then I came out happy.

Got scammed once, But since then i've never got scammed until now.

3 times some guys try to scamme, but lucky i'm not so naive ;) The offers was always too good, and after words they always admitted to be a scammer.

All I have is from trading mostly Dota items and some game keys. All I have to tell you is that you should trade keys only with guys with 80+ reputation

I do all the scammers who attempt to report fraud on me steamrep forum

And when someone adds me on steam and asks to trade reserve first check his steam profile on steamrep site

There are people who often offer bad deals and looking good games, they are also scammers ... (sry for bad english)

Got scammed off a russian for a dota 2 item, he was going to trade my entire inventory but that sounded too spooky for me, so I wanted to try it smaller first, and that prooved the thing. Was a dendro for natures prophet (value of 5 dollars??). I don't play dota 2 anymore, and all the items I had after that was traded away for a game which was traded away further... The guy used /me commands and I had never encountered or heard about those before, so it sounded a bit legit to me. But as stated above I didn't really lose on anything, because if I would have the dendro left after that, I would just have given that too to that guy I traded with later.

I almost got scammed dungeon siege 2 for ace of spades but i accidently gave him a used key and he blocked me before checking the key XD

He couldn't Just re add me after that

I havent been scammed yet although I know a few people that has been scammed before, never trade with anyone with a private profile, make sure that you are talking with the same guy clicking on his steamtrades profile and something really easy, click the arrow near its profile name to see if he had used any other name before, if they had used other names before similar to people in steamtrades they are obviously scammers, now theres not much to do just give him some negative rep to let others know that he isnt trustworthy(but make sure that it was not an impersonator) and be more careful in the future when trading keys, as a personal advice you should never go first with gifts for keys because even if the other person gives you the key theres still a chance that is invalid or duplicate

Same way, Xeno Clash for a Shank 2 key i never got, luckily i bought it at 0.99 cents on a Steam sale but it still ets one frustrated when this things happen. Also i was going to give the game here or to a friend :/

lost a humble bundlekey (bought for $1) i wanted to trade for another humblebundle key. yea didnt give a fuck because its not worth it

Never trade for paypal money when you are tired.

I lost my tradable copies of Dungeons Gold and Borderlands GOTY when some random scammer added me when I was still pretty new to ST and just never gave them back.

i got scammed almost everytime i went first in a trade.. lost a few copies of L4D2, a Sanctum DLC, some game key i don't remember to what game, and a few more stuff.

i usually don't go first any more.. even if the guy has more rep than me
