Why do you speak of my mother in the past tense, as if she's dead? o.o

Sure. First off, there's something called string theory, which says that everything is made up of tiny little strings of energy. There are a few peculiarities with string theory, namely: it requires 10 dimensions, and it suggests that some of its info may be moving faster than the speed of light. String theory is supposed to be a theory of everything, but there are five primary versions, which is kind of pathetic, given it should be just one theory of everything.
That's where M theory comes in. M theory is a theory that combines all five together, through their similarities. It finds a way to convert each theory into the other theories. Edward Witten, the dude that discovered M theory, did it by imagining that the five primary string theories were merely estimations of the true theory of everything. Also, M theory requires 11 dimensions, rather than string theory's 10. The dimensions may be spiral, meaning that strings can move EXTREMELY far, without actually moving far from where they started.
Pretty interesting.
