Explain your smolness
You should not remove games that you have won here. Otherwise it will be considered non-activated win and a rule violation. Of course, if this game is removed from steam - someone will need to prove somehow that the game is not on your account, so most probably it won't have any consequences. But I still believe that removing the game you have won is not nice, even if it's hard to prove you did that.

From the ethical perspective I completely agree with you. On the other hand, what that game's developer did is also not ethical and far worse than this situation in my opinion. That's not the main reason why I want to remove it, I simply just want to clean my account. And only wondering the API part. I may want to wait for a Steam Gifts support's opinion though. Thanks for the reply.

What Ryzhehvost said. I'll add the option of using the hide game option if you don't want to see it in your library if that helps you.

The only other way to do it without becoming a problem on SG as far as I know is to see if the giveaway creator for that game you won would agree to a deletion of the giveaway or your portion of it. You maybe able to get them to agree to it, if you for example, gave them a working key for the game. Once that happens, you can then remove the game safely from your steam library.

They don't have to. They only need to delete the part of the giveaway where you are a winner.

Its the same principle with a 2 game giveaway with two winners and one does not want it or entered incorrectly.
It is a long shot and you may well have to wait a while before the SG moderators get to it as this wont be high up on their priorities, but I do wish you luck with this.

If the game has already been removed from the Steam store completely, I'm sure there's no repercussions for deleting it from your library. Game no longer exists as far as the API is concerned, and would be whitelisted in SG tools.
I don't think there's a need to bug the GA creator in that sort of case. Personally, I would just hide the game, but... if you really want to remove it completely, it's up to you.

I personally would hide the game myself as this wouldn't bother me either but the OP wanted to clean his/her library up by removing the game. This would be the only way I think they can do it in terms of adhering to SG rules without any comeback.
Regardless of what they decide to do, I wish you a happy cake day Shannon :)

DLCs also can't be detected (by the site or SGT), but obviously SG expects you to have those activated. So, from a site rule consideration, one'd assume it'd still be considered inappropriate to have the games removed. On the other hand, unlike DLCs [which can be checked by friending the individual and then visiting the DLC's associated store page], it does appear that there's no way whatsoever to check ownership of removed games (as you pointed out).
So yeah, even if the site felt repercussions were in order, there'd be no feasible way for site staff to pursue the matter. That said, it's probably something you'd want to avoid doing on games that were developer/publisher-removed, on the off-chance they return to the store. Doesn't seem likely that it'd ever be an issue for Valve-removed games, however.

Don't publisher unlisted games still appear on your games list though and have an unlisted store page? I thought it was just banished games that are gone completely. I could be wrong, I just assumed it was like that.
I agree with what your saying, which is why hiding them would be my preference. I don't enter for trash games though. Maybe cheap ones that look interesting. Hehe!

If you ever owned a game on Steam, it doesn't matter if it's been banished or just delisted, you still have them in your library. Even they still have a community page.
Also I don't enter for trash games either but I didn't suspect such giveaways back then, I'm more careful now. :)

What I meant is the games list that every ones sees on your profile, not the library ;)

There's the following methods by which a game can be made unpurchasable:
Deactivated [Store page is still up, but you can't purchase. All non-price associations still exist.]
Delisted by Publisher [Store page is no longer active in any way, game becomes disassociated, publisher can reactivate]
Delisted by Valve [Store page is no longer active in any way, game becomes disassociated, developer cannot reactivate]
There's also the relatively new Hide-from-Search setting, which (by my understanding) can be associated with any game with an active store page, regardless of whether it's purchasable or not.
As far as I know, delisting fundamentally has identical effect regardless of who does it- so, if I'm not mistaken there, then Deactivated games are what you'd be thinking of.
For example, State of Decay is Deactivated, but neither Hidden nor Delisted.
Deadpool is delisted by the publisher. Beast Blaster is delisted by Valve.
Unfortunately, even though I've encountered some recently, I can't recally any Hidden listings to show you at the moment, but they'll have a Notice at the top stating that the Developer requested Steam hide the page from searches.

Ah okay. So it's not so straight forward. Thanks for explanation. ^^

Technically speaking, if a game is removed from Steam the API won't register it anymore so Steamgifts sees it the same as if you no longer own it but they make it as a false-positive because it got removed, those games, again, technically, could be removed just fine from your Steam because nobody can see if you own it or not, up to you if you actually do that though.

That's a relief though I'm still not sure if I should remove it or not. Assuming that I removed the game, it got false-positive. After this I un-remove the game, will it become how it's used to be or the API dynamically changes so it cannot be the same? Just for curiousity.
For now it seems I won't risk it. Thanks for the reply.

All games that are removed from Steam are false-positives already, might not happen right away but even if you don't remove it from your account, Steamgifts will see it as missing already anyway and no way to change that because the API doesn't see removed games because Steam doesn't show them anymore.
Besides that you can always, the same way as removing it, get it back from Steam, so even IF Steamgifts asks for proof, because again, they can't see it in the API, you can just ask Steam for the game back and be done with it but doubt they go through that trouble.

So in a way they are already lost in API. I'll keep this in mind. Firstly I'll try to reach out to see if they can remove me from the certain giveaway since it's not an urgent matter and I have enough time to deal with this. If that can happen, good, if not I may go with removing to see what happens next. I can have back the game anyway if it's troubling.
Thanks for the detailed replies.

I am curious though, how is SteamDB detecting owned DLCs and removed games? Are they not accessed through the API, can't SG use the same method?
Comment has been collapsed.
I am not sure to be honest, there are ways to find out without using the Steam API but I guess steamgifts has their reasons for not using that method and go with the API?
This is what the SteamDB websites says:
We use SteamKit to interface with the Steam network. We request changes for all applications and packages once in a while, but mostly rely on Steam's own update system which automatically notifies us when an application or package updates.

Deleting games can be risky since I can't restore certain games that have been removed from the store. However that might simply be because the dev is banned and i have no idea who made monsti or if they even have anything else. So it really is up to you to take a risk or not. Though I've know people with a few games not activated and didn't get a perma ban so wouldn't really hurt that much in the end for now

Hello Mitsukuni and sorry for noob question , but instead of hidder or remove your game from library , why you not just remove the Access to your account from the api ?!?! i see some people ask about it here https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1736595227840598366/ but i don't know how it work i'm just a gamer but you can try,Also would be good idea change password, activate two factor authenticator, use steamguard and also activate family filter that show 0 games of your library if code not inserted.
Anyway if you care about use SG if you "delete" (that btw is not remove is just hidden it") the game then you will start get problems about "SteamGiftTool" that say you don't activate a game or problems like this... and they are very boring...
So if for your Life for your personal reasons remove games from steam is more worth it than use SG ok you can not care about SG and do it...
if viceversa you think use SG is important for you (for example because is a free "third party" tool for giveaway games where instead other people\websites make pay money for do this) is better you not do it
p.s. i think, but is just my idea, that also if you "Delete" a game on steam it is never deleted is just only hidden, and is always possible to restore it back.

Hi. In normal cases that is what will happen. But in my case, the game is not in Steam store in present and because of banned by Valve it won't return any time. So it already has issues with the API. That's why I asked the question. Otherwise I have no intention to do that for any other game I've won. You may think it as kind of an ethical dilemma.

Thank you for explain it to me,this can be useful also for me if they remove game i giveaway from store thank you so much,

Hi all.
With the recent banwave on Steam, I decided to clean my library by removing the games via Steam Support. While doing this I bumped into a game I won here which is a copycat game but I didn't know that at that moment. I literally had a nearly 200% win chance, you can see that here:
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/UiQxa/monsti
So I want to remove this game too but I'm not sure if that can affect my CV. As I understand the game will be in my account somewhere forever because I can always un-remove the game again on Steam Support. But if I remove the game it'll cut ties with the Steam API probably. What should I do in this situation? I'm trying to be careful about shovelware for a couple of years but cleaning the past would feel good.
Also there is one more game in a similar situation like above but it's kinda different. It's a multiplayer game that not on the Steam right now, I can still download and install it but cannot be played. You can see that one here:
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/CFVrj/sins-of-a-dark-age
Last words: I don't have a giveaway but here is 2x Dead Space 3 Origin key.
