I get really sick when I play certain first person games where I have to move around a lot like mirror's edge ;__;. I just started polarity and after 5 minutes I felt like I'm on a ship the middle of a storm. So anyone else has issues with certain genres?
I made my first mini train and i had to improvise. Sorry it's trash, you've been warned.

I can relate, I feel the same when playing certain first person games.
Bioshock Infinite, for example, gave me a particularly hard headache in the last level.

The first time I died of gravity was a biggest scare in a videogame for me ;____;

I get motion sickness if there is head bobbing in a FPS, so I always turn that setting off if it exists. I get seasick very easily when I'm on a boat which sucks pretty hard.

It's weird, I don't get motion sickness unless I get stuck. So I could be playing Mirror's Edge for hours straight with no problem, but as soon as I get stuck (don't know where to go), I'll start feeling nauseous. Same with Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Actually, same with any game that involves a singleplayer campaign. If I get stuck, I get nauseous.

i can't play more than 5 minutes of portal without dramamine or some other anti-nausea motion sickness meds. something about about the realistic walking motion and center crosshairs. best relief i've found is to play other games, or limit playtime sessions to less than 30 minutes (or when the drugs wear off).

yeah polarity is a lot like portal :s. I've never played portal myself but i've watched my cousin play it. I didn't get sick then, but i'm 100% sure i won't last more than 5 minutes in it too

I haven't experienced sickness really, but I get a headache when the field of view is so small like in many FPS. I prefer the 3rd person view. Thanks for the train!

It's a common issue that's not really restricted to first person games. Certain camera movement patterns, angles, color combinations and filters cause this. I personally encountered this in games so diverse as, say, Remember Me, South Park: Stick of the Truth, and even League of Legends before they updated their graphics.

I used to get headaches when I played fps games when I was younger. I don't know if I'd call it motion sickness though.

Actually it started with Half Life 2 on me. Before that I was able to play Half Life or Medal of Honor etc.

Half Life 2 was the only game I ever played to make me sick (it's an awesome game, mind you).
If you google "half life 2 motion sickness" you will find millions of results, thus it is one of the most famous cases in history of gaming. It's all about the infamous "FOV" (Field of View) settings. It is said that the original setting of 75 degrees was capable to mess with some people's brains, causing nausea and thus some suggested to change the FOV to 90 with the command line. Recently I played Half-Life 2: Update and this was available at the options, to change the FOV from 75 to 90. Personally even though I didn't see any improvement at the original, at the "Update" version I could play more comfortably by changing this.

I never got motion sickness in any game until now, so I can't really say much, but a friend mine has motion sickness and he said was probably 'cause he sits too close to monitor... could this be your case?

That shouldn't really be the problem. Motion sickness occurs when visual information doesn't match with what the vestibular system (the organ which configures balance) registers. The brain takes this as a symptom of an intoxication and getting sick is a defence mechanism to throw up the toxines. Sorry for the lecture ^^

Don't need to say sorry.... Is always good to learn something. I know what motion sickness means, but my friend probably didn't know exactly what was causing this symptom and tried to figured out =/
I'm sorry to hear you are not able to play your game, this sucks =( wish you the best and you figure out something and can play it :DD
Sorry for not being very helpful

I've never had a problem with first-person games, but give me some screen shake (be it in sidescrollers or top-down games) and I start feeling sick and immediately get headaches-- go figure ^^

The worst game for me is Dead Island. I feel dizzy, sick and my head feels like it will explode anytime. I bought Definitive Edition hoping that is was "fixed", but it's the same thing. ;-;

I used to have motion sickness when playing racing games or games that had races with vehicles, but I stopped playing them (didn't like races with vehicles anyway), so I stopped having this problem after a while.

I actually get motion sick playing Minecraft. I'm not even kidding.

On the contrary, I handle FPS games fairly fine. I could do L4D2 for up to 12 hours.

FPS don't really cause me any problems as far as a i know. It's just games where you have to run a lot or concentrate hard while jumping and running

I've been unable to complete mirror's edge because of that, I can barely play Doom (the 1993 one) and I don't know why but I'm also sick when I play Dear Esther. I've been a little sick the first couple hours playing Borderlands 2 but I got used to it and playyed 50 more hours without problem. I think sometimes you just need to train your brain a little.

The only game I've experienced this so far is with The Talos Principle, which is a shame since I really wanted to play it. People suggested certain changes to the settings but nothing I tried alleviated it. D:
