How can I disable the new Steam Community?

Dislike it as well, especially the new friends feed. Went from tidy & concise to a fucking mess with a ton of scrolling.

Well, when I switched to the "new" format it completely broke the steam store in my (non-steam) browser windows, for one. It seems silly to have a one-way ticket to a "beta" release, and then no way to go back if their shtuff is broken for you.

Solution: You can't!

It's a beta. They're using it as a trial to get feedback. Give Valve your feedback for god's sake, so that we're not all inflicted with the new version.

Odd, I was under the impression that the general opinion of the new community layout is that it's an improvement. I quite like it personally. Don't forget that you can remove the notifications for areas that don't interest you under 'Friend Activity Settings' e.g. achievements.

if they just added "view store page" back to the right click menu in my Library.... i would be fine with it. don't really like it, but that is the only thing that i really hate. Now, I have to right click, view game hub, then click view store page. bastards! lol

Its always the case. It always takes time to get used to with something 'anew'. Rather then complaining, try to find why they did this. You may end up appreciating the change.

If you don't like it you can just uninstall steam since after awhile it will be the same thing for everyone.
