Hello - I have a question: I had briefly (by accident) set my Steam profile as private. Now I can not check any SG tools checks for activating all the won gifts, although I have set my Steam profile back to public and synced it with SG. I have also talked to SG support and they confirmed my SG profile is OK from their side, but that I should post here and ask for help. Thanx.

Could you make the cross-sections of public/private/group and region-restricted/free categories available? Like real_sent_public_region_free?
In filter (announced here) I practically wanted to make sure that entrants either
a) do not deal with region-restricted stuff and have a "group-less level 3" (here I assume that private GA-s go to forum/trains/puzzles)
b) deal with region-restricted stuff, and they have "level 3" of nonrestricted public GA-s.
The latter one goes with a worst-case assumption now and it is very punitive in its current form: people can easily end up with negative values (example), while the "spirit" of the filter would be "real_sent_public_region_free>50", which the example profile could clearly pass, just with GA-s from this month.

The problem with this kind of aggregate filters is that I lack the data on the database to calculate them. Allowing them would mean I have to store way more data per user on the cached values table that is already quite big.
I might do that in the future, but it's not feasible with current server.

The only way that can be a problem - when I come to home, I can copy link from my work-computer and continue in my PC (when my points are regenerated). Maybe this is a problem? Enter on one computer, continue on another - with different IP number, different browser what not entered into that specified sgtools?
Comment has been collapsed.
That is the wagon I was referring to, yes, but I'm not sure you should link it in public (as it's part of a private train).
I was not aware of that train or it's thread, so I can only assure you that you didn't pass the sgtools gate for that concrete giveaway and that you were the only invalid entry.
Comment has been collapsed.
This one is ended - but I removed link.
I remember this train because I usually searching for hidden games. And this time I don't have points to enter so I entered into it almost at end when I saw it (bumped by other users).
I can't tell why I'm not registered in your system but this is not first sgtools train which I participated. It's a bug for me but I can't prove my innocence.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's impossible to user to prove, that service got a bug.
You are passing only one time (to enter), next - is a SG way to serve user activity.
@Tristar - first, I can't (I see only this blocking message, I can't check anything). Second - I can't even prove, that I got and GA link or not.
Custom rule: level >= 3.0 AND (real_sent_public + real_sent_private) >= 50 AND real_sent_region_free >= 50 AND last_multiple_win <= date_modify(date('now'), '-2 years')
Also - I can't prove that I met or not entering values. It's impossible from someone outside main system. You only pressing a button, you don't process data - it's run on server memory not your browser. And You don't have any impact to process them right or create an exception.
Comment has been collapsed.
I also... I not checking them - I just pressing the button...
Gifts Won 314 ($2,713.38)
Gifts Sent 422 ($3,913.28)
This look like I want to cheat?
I was wondering "what is this message"? I created a thread in forum, someone told, that this is normal error spotted sometime and I must sync my profile, so I did that, but without success.

There is no way to bug that part of the code to "forget an entry". In order for SGTools to show the URL to a user, there must be an entry on the database with a valid state PASSED_REQUIREMENTS for that user. That is the reason behind the two steps process for getting a giveaway url: "check requirements" and "reveal url".
Reveal url is an operation that does only two things: Check for the correct state and show the url if appropriate. The write part is done in the previous operation "check requirements", so there is no way to obtain an url without having a stored valid entry on the database.
This part is extra robust on purpose, to avoid any kind of malfunction in that aspect.
Comment has been collapsed.
So I can't explain why I passing the rules, I got a link to the train and this is not registered. This is not a first train I was participated.
This is your tool and I can't prove my innocense to check code / server overload during this process. So I must wait one month without a reasonable cause for me :(
I just don't think before that I must create a screenshoots to register my activity to have a proof...
Comment has been collapsed.
You did not get the link from the tool, period.
There are four levels of status on giveaway entry phase at three different times:
You got no status on that SGTools gate, and there is no way to delete an entry status outside of raw query to the db. On every step the status is commited, and it's checked on the next ones re-reading the values from the db, ignoring cached objects. There is literally no way to get the url with the traces you have in the db.
The question is where did you get the url from?
I'm sorry to answer this directly, but you keep implying that the tool is bugged, when it's not. That part didn't change in a really long time, it's super-robust and there are several millions entries without a single problem on it.
Comment has been collapsed.
There is one other option. That this is due to something the GA creator did, possibly by mistake. He/she may have shared the link elsewhere, possibly via another SGTools gate or directly, possibly intentionally or by mistake.
I actually did something very similar last week and made this note for myself, to make sure I don't mistakenly blame users for bypassing the filter. Something similar may have happened here.

How I got it? As rest of my gateway entries - search a train thread, enter, passing the requrements and go forward... Can you give me a reason why I want to evade sgtools protection if I pass the requirements? This was not first sgtools train. I used them a lot in this/previous month.
I don't know what your server process the data because I'm not an admin of it and don't created a code for it. Millions are not proof, that any error is not present at software temper for years. Even now we can find errors in SSL or servers process... tested by milions/billions of users over years. So this can happen everywhere. I don't know what exactly are happened and nobody can tell about this without dumping an process thread. I can't explain it.
I don't blame you but I know the reality... Anyway, evade protection system when you can fullfill the requiements is... pointless?
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't give you any reason why you did something, because you are the only one who know that answer. It's not the first time someone ignores the sgtools gateway even when they would easily pass the requirements. The explanations they give are diverse (using another account, friends qualified for me, I thought I qualified before and used a link from a friend, etc...).
I explained how the server process the petitions, and unfortunately for you there is no explanation for you not having a single trace on entry status, when you should have gotten at least 3 different states if you did really enter the giveaway thought sgtools.
The reality is that you never even tried to qualify for that giveaway on sgtools, the rest only is known by you.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think you have bug in your tool and you can't locate it. Because user can't search your server logs it's impossible to him to prove it. As I remember i moved between those car trains because I don't have 2-3 games from that pack. I think we can end this discussion because I can't prove it. Next time I will make a screencshoot to prevent get an penalty due to abnormal behavior. What would you say if I had an screenshoot of passed entry - also impossible?
Explanation "I don't saw this before" is not an explanation for me. Like an manually added (served) infractions in the tool "used by millions". But ok, end of line...
Anyway - thanks for help and time taken to examine my problem.
By the way, as I see there are a method to abnormal use of your tool:
Comment has been collapsed.
You can think whatever you want, it's clear that you got the url from another source. If you feel better trying to convince the rest that there may be a bug on sgtools and you are clearly innocent, up to you.
You won't be able to ever provide a screenshot like that, because you have 0 of the 3 status you get from entering a giveaway thought sgtools. Will you tell me every step bugged for you? even when to advance on steps you need previous states on db to be stored? I'm sorry, but you are not saying the truth.
That abnormal use is well known, and that's why I and others were asking you where did you get the url from? If the creator itself has given you the url or you got it from a post in steamgifts made by the creator, you'll get the infraction cleared. But you keep going on the "there is a bug on your service, kthxbtye" type of answers.

Valve started using the term "trade banned" when user names are listed (e.g. in comments), so trade_ban seems like a good option to me. Definitely better than anything with VAC, which most people relate with a multiplayer-gaming related ban.

an idea for sgtools (not the rules part, the check previous wins part):
add an option to mark the users as one who has served suspension. the one who checked and reported to support can mark.
for it to be "honest" the user who marked it should be visible.
for example, i found you had a double win 1 year ago. i contact support. they say already served suspension. i marked you sgtools GA as suspended for that. and next one to search you see i already verified support suspended you.
if someone abuse that system, add them to the BL of sgtools as you do for other stuff.
Comment has been collapsed.
This would only work if most/everyone would cooperate to do this and at the same time it would be something people would forget to do and it most probably would be abused also and those abuses would lead to sanctions and those sanctions would lead to drama.
And concerning the already served suspensions I have seen SG support members post the advise to always make a ticket when winners have non activated games and multiple wins.
Just make a re-roll ticket and support will make a re-roll or not.
Comment has been collapsed.
What would prevent someone from asking a friend to report them as a user who already served suspension, even if they haven't? It would be very difficult to catch such abuse without co-operation from SG staff or without other users ignoring this tag and reporting anyway (which kind of defeats the point of this suggestion).
Comment has been collapsed.
if someone abuse that system, add them to the BL of sgtools as you do for other stuff.
yes, it requires people to double check the winner but yes.
it could work as the rep system
Comment has been collapsed.
This suggestion would lead to a lot of abuse and misuse for sure and the
if someone abuse that system, add them to the BL of sgtools as you do for other stuff.
would lead to serving timed infractions and perma banning and those sanctions would lead to more (artificially inflated) drama and that drama is the ultimate goal of some of the worst SGTools haters and their friends who thrive on this drama and their hate of SGTools (except for entering SGTools giveaways of course :3).
Imho this is a "Trojan" suggestion and even more so knowing that SG support advises on the SG discussions to always make a SG support ticket if the winner has non activated and/or multiple wins.
Comment has been collapsed.
not really possible to work - any person willling to exploit it ask friend or just make alt account on another IP to report themselves as no longer reported. 99% of people seeing "already suspended" would not report thus noone would ever found out you cheated.
Comment has been collapsed.
I figured that would be the main problem.
However, as suggested only some users the ability to that. Based on whatever knsys think us appropriate. And they can help support.
Comment has been collapsed.
As some others has already answered, this is a typical feature that works wonders on paper, but it's a nightmare in the real world.
Support has stated that they don't mind reroll request or reports for users who already served a suspension, so let's stick with it :)

I went through some of the currently whitelisted games and found these may be removed from the whitelist. Before proceeding to removal, please double check the SteamAPI detection of these games, preferably with existing giveaway winners (I believe if they activated then the listed title won't show up in the well known false positives).
PART I: these used to have section_type
= ownersonly
attribute which prevent the app from being detected by API, but are later removed, including at least one I myself reported for adding to whitelist
STAR WARSβ’ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga - SteamDB
STAR WARSβ’ Rebellion - SteamDB
Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series - SteamDB
NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Souzou (Traditional Chinese version) - SteamDB
Trials of the Blood Dragon - SteamDB
SONAR - SteamDB
Adventure Apes and the Mayan Mystery - SteamDB
PART II: tried checking these titles and they should show up in SteamAPI and users' profile libraries, didn't know why they were in whitelist in the first place, maybe some app settings prevented them from showing up but were since fixed
Days Under Custody - SteamDB
The Return Home - SteamDB
PART III: these don't show up in users' profile libraries but should show up in the SteamAPI, if you check with SteamDB these will also show up
R.I.P.D.: The Game - SteamDB
Secret Files 3 - SteamDB
Conflict Desert Storm - SteamDB
A Game of Dwarves - SteamDB
Again, this is not a complete list, more may follow up. Furthermore, please double check to ensure no errors, even though I already checked all of them with friends owning the games or existing SG wins. There are also some DLC in the whitelist, I suppose for now we could keep them as they are even though they could've show as "DLC wins not showing up".
Just FYI: I'm working on looking for games that cannot be detected by the SteamAPI. From what I have gathered, at least these cases will prevent the app from showing in the API:
section_type
= ownersonly
attributecommunity_hub_visible
= yes
attribute being missingComment has been collapsed.
That's an impressive work you did there!
Already double checked and removed them all, as you have already guessed, if the tool can find it in steam api it doesn't show the "whitelisted" message for those games.
The DLCs that are in the list are usually there because steam reports them as a game and not a dlc, so it triggers not activated flag :)
Thanks a ton for the work!

To whoever created this post, what you need to do is contact the GA creator and ask them to create a ticket to "Change Giveaway Game". Explain to them that since the key you received is not for the game selected for the giveaway (DARK SOULS II: Scholar of the First Sin instead of DARK SOULS II), the only other options are to delete the giveaway, or for you to mark the game as Not Received. Changing giveaway game is better in my opinion.
Comment has been collapsed.
well, they sent you the wrong game then and it should be marked not received. that would additionally not trigger sgtools from going off. i never really recommend changing feedback though but in this case i can clearly see the gifter is perm suspended so this cannot be corrected by traditional routes. therefore imo, just change feedback to what it should of been marked a year ago and problem solved ;)
if this is bad advice please someone chime in and stop em ;)

There's at least one illegal entrant who entered the first GA.

My account is flagged as having unactivated win https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/vqZYZ/max-payne/winners. Maybe it's because this game is displayed in my library as Max Payne (RU)

This has probably been mentioned before already but I do not skim through 25 pages of text ..... I checked recently my real CV (won) and got the impression it was somehow low. I then noticed that two games have not been counted since there were less than five entries in an invite only giveaway. I understand this comes from Steamgifts itself for calculating the CV level. But this is for real CV (sent). It seems strange that it would be used the same way for the amount you won.
I don't care about this but there are some groups out there looking at the real CV won/sent stats but such won giveaways will not be counted by the tool. So should there be made a difference for calculating in won and sent?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's done on purpose to be able to compare both sent and won values equally.
If a giveaway is not giving CV for the user who created it, it shouldn't penalize either on won CV.
Let's look at a classical example, a small giveaway group where 5- entries are not something abnormal:
Comment has been collapsed.
Hm, I understand the argumentation, especially for groups with low entries. It still seems strange to me. If someone makes a giveaway and says he only wants users with less than x $ real CV it gives me an unfair advantage since I actually won more than the program is telling.
But if it is intentional than it is okay.

Unactivated: Fate of the World: Tipping Point (December 24, 2011, 8:03pm)
You have this: http://store.steampowered.com/app/80200

Is it possible to fix the un activated game issue?
Al tho it shows that i have both of them
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi, yesterday i won a game from my friend... he sent me the gift on my email and because i trust him i marked it as received yesterday evening and activate it today morning... and on sgtools i can read "Your account is flagged as having some unactivated Wins or your profile is Private." Am i screwed on sgtools becacuse of that forever? I think that's it because i activated all my won giveaways... :(
Comment has been collapsed.
sync your account on SGT - you have sync under home button
Also in future try to avoid marking before you receive a gift, even if you trust someone. Other users and support don't know it's your friend and that you trust him - all we see is unactivated win. Support will usually wait till 7 days pass before suspending you for nonactivation (but still better safe than sorry), but users who notice your non-activated win may not be waiting until they BL you for rulebreaking.

Right... So, I only today had a proper look at SGtools and I have to admit it looks quite nifty! So I had to obviously look at some people including myself just to see what it looks like. Little did I know I myself have been marked for multiple wins of the same game. Looking back I do recall it and that the I contacted the person for a reroll as i literally won the two copies within the same hour (mind you my memory is a little hazy.) After some talk he told me there was some work to do rerolls and he/she wasn't interested in going through that process. So we ended on that note where either one of his/her friend activated it or one of mine I cannot remember. But in the end I just went with what the gifter wished.
I guess what I wanted to ask was is this something that can be resolved somehow aka. Removed? Do I need to wear some silly hat in the corner for a week? Strike? Surely I am painting myself a target but I'd much rather not be marked for something that was resolved (but apparently not officially.)
The two tiles in question are:

knsys is not really the right contact person to resolve this issue, since he is just the developer of sgtools, a third party program. The benefit of the tool is to find past infractions against certain steamgifts-rules - so the tool works correctly all in all.
If you want a multiple win to be removed, you will have to put in some effort. Basically one of the gifters will have to contact steamgifts support.
The easiest way is to remember, if you accepted and gave the key away or if the giveaway-creator kept the key and you just marked it falsely as received. In the latter case you should inform the giveaway creator, that he will have to ask for a re-roll, since you are not allowed to have multiple wins. After that you just mark the giveaway as not received.
In any case, you will have to contact one of the giveaway creators and ask them if one of them is willing to remove or re-roll your win. A re-roll would of course require a working key, that can be given to someone else.
You may also come to an agreement with one of the giveaway creators. This could mean that you just give them something outside of steamgifts, in exchange that one of them is willing to ask for a deletion of their giveaway
Keep in mind that none of them is obliged to help you, but you shouldn't actually take this multiple win as too severe.
It is not the idea of this site to punish you multiple times for a single transgression.
Edit: If a giveaway is deleted from your won-page, then it won't show up in sgtools, too, so, jeah, you would be clean again.
